    The beard of regret.

This is a post about beards. Specifically, my beard. There's pretty much nothing else, so I encourage you to skip this post if you couldn't care less about beards.

    Heh, whoops...

So, trust me to do a big "I'm back!" post and then immediately disappear for a couple months. Sorry about that! The last couple of months at work have been a little brutal, there's some personal home-life stuff happening, and I'm just generally out of practice when it comes to posting. I'll make an effort to post more frequently!

    I can see clearly now...

First of all, I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome I got the other day on my previous blog post. I'm not surprised, this is the kindest and most welcoming community I've ever been a part of, but it was very much appreciated! It underscored for me how much I missed being here.

Well, I’ve decided to return to Fimfiction after an incredibly long absence. I’ve really missed this site, especially the community that resides here.

General musings and some awesome Sunflower fanart · 3:10am Nov 29th, 2015

Greetings, one and all!

I've recently come to the realization that I need someone to be my schedule-keeper. Not quite a secretary or personal admin, just someone who can pop up when needed and remind me to do the things that I was intending to do. My wife is pretty good at that sort of thing, but only when it comes to official household business. Meaning, things like "the lawn is looking a little scraggly, maybe you should mow it" or "there sure are a lot of leaves, maybe we should rake them" or "the car is yelling at me about needing an oil change. Could you take it in?"

Hmm... come to think of it, our new car is actually pretty good about reminding us about required service. I'll check to see if there's any way to get it to keep me on-task with my writing.

Anyway, on to the real reason for this blog post! A while back, I got a message from someone called Meetwad, asking me about Erin's appearance as a human. After a little back and forth, this really cool picture is the result:

Direct link to the page: http://bakki.deviantart.com/art/CM-A-nightmare-on-stirrup-street-572701340

The art is by bakki, who is obviously very talented, and who may be getting commission work from me later on, if they're interested :pinkiehappy:.

It's really cool getting art of her as a human! She's pretty danged close to how I pictured her, too. This particular scene is actually from one of the stories, though it was re-imagined with Erin as a human rather than pony-Erin. Which I'm totally cool with, because, come on, she looks amazing!

So, big thanks to bakki for the art, and to Meetwad for getting the commission to have it made! Oh, and apparently there's a contest on the Deviantart comment page of this picture. The winner will be the first person to comment there with which chapter and story the scene is from (I'm assuming I'm exempt from the competition :twilightsheepish:). If you're interested in that contest, head on over to bakki's page and leave a comment.

Thanks for reading, everyone!

~Hoopy

(Oh, and apparently the pic is on Equestria Daily's drawfriend post today. Neat!)

I saw this picture on Derpibooru, but completely failed to make the Erin connection until now. Very cool!

The bucket of baby carrots, so fitting. :rainbowlaugh:

Hey I can give your butt a swift friendly kick if I remember to remind you of your pony-ly duties, but I doubt I'd be very reliable at it :pinkiehappy:.

And really?! She was a pony in that one and not a human? I now see that the chapter comes after the one where she returns to earth... but in my defense the chapters are very close together (in listed order) and her appearance was never elaborated upon :twilightsheepish:.

Man I really thought she was still in her hairless ape mode in that one... blargh...

Heh and a part of this experiment is regarding an assertion that nobody reads the description.... If noone replies then I can just default the prize to you i suppose :rainbowlaugh:

I always read the description when looking at a piece of artwork on DA. More often than not, the artist has something interesting to say about the art that went on behind the scenes!

Awesome picture with two awesome characters

I would be willing to spam your mailbox to remind you.

This art is fantastic!! Awesome art for an awesome series

I, for one, welcome our vehicular overlords.:flutterrage:

Seriously though, I'd offer, but I have similar scheduling issues...

Wonderful!

Wow that is amazing. Also, silly RD, being scared of a movie.

Just schedule calendar alerts and reminders on your phone. Google is good for that. If you wanted to put something out each Tuesday, you could set a weekly event with reminder notifications and/or emails every day for 3 days prior. So, every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday it would tell you to write something. Done and done.

If that doesn't work, then hire a butler to poke you with a stick every so often. :trollestia:

At college I always kept myself on task with a running todo list, sorted by deadline, breaking items down into manageable chunks (usually daily chunks) with arbitrary deadlines as necessary. When I had an item to do for the day, I wouldn't let myself play video games or whatnot until I had it done.

Plenty of apps to help with this nowadays, I use Google Keep for simple TODO lists.

Oh God, I just needed to see Rainbow's reaction realized. Mane and tail on end is always a funny sight. XD

Ha. I remember that chapter. Frankly, I really love when you write about the mane 6 reactions to earth movies. I do hope that you'll write more in your "slice-of-life" spin-off (just don't show any movies reviewed by The Cinema Snob and the mane 6 should be fine, although I don't think that's Erin's type of movie). Really, you could write an entire fic about this (since you get the characters so well).

Hmm... come to think of it, our new car is actually pretty good about reminding us about required service. I'll check to see if there's any way to get it to keep me on-task with my writing.

With the way tech is going that just might work. Just make sure you don't name it HAL though. :raritywink:

Also great artwork.

They are watching...a Nightmare on Elm Street... I had nightmares after watching that...:applejackconfused:
