Orbiting Kettle

I've roasted a wealth of exotic things, All torn to ribbons at the hands of kings. Polished copper how I proudly shone, stealin' the fire of the blazing sun.

Breaking News: Ponefic drought gets worse, nobody surprised. · 8:24pm Oct 28th, 2015

I have and abysmally bad productivity, at least under the profile of Pony-words:applecry:.

Usually I write something, then people tell me all the parts where it doesn’t work, then I fix this, then they edit, then I fix stuff again, then they edit and then I publish (maybe). All this takes it’s sweet time. If we add a few folders filled with ideas that did never develop or where reclassified under the “Let me do this when I’m a better writer” my slow production should be explained. Oh, and there is a story I may not edit for a while because one episode torpedoed it (The Ponyville Project from the Write-off Illusion of Choice)

All this will get worse. Now, my college offers for my B.Sc. in CS a minor in Computational Neuroscience. It’s a wonderful package of lectures that I find quite interesting, starting with Neurophysiology and Playing with EEGs (not the name of the lecture but the gist of it). So that means that I will obviously, beside my 30 hours work weekly and me not being anymore in my 20’s, get an extra-load of stuff to do:facehoof:. Fascinating stuff, mind you, but still things that will devour my time like Pinkie will devour unsupervised cupcakes. And this for the next few months at least.

Long story short, if I don’t find an efficient way to write stuff (and I’m open to suggestions here, I would very much like to become faster:twilightblush:) the trickle of stories will dry up a bit more. I will just continue with write-offs and short term competitions as they tend to eat just one or two days and leave me time to do other things.

If you figure this out, maybe you can let the rest of us know! I know I'd like to become faster. :fluttershyouch:

But I think for me, outlines help specifically for this reason of needing to efficiently write. I can't just write randomly, I need some sort of goal like "this needs to be established in this chapter." But lately, I've found that I need my outlines to be very specific too because if they're too vague I still end up getting stuck and I don't know how to get passed the scenes. I know B, and I know G, but I don't know how to do anything in between. So I have to go back to my outline and figure out the next plot points. Or I just completely skip the scenes I'm stuck on and just proceed from there. :twilightblush:

That's why I love and hate the Writeoffs. No time to think and you just have to plow ahead with what you have. It's totally opposite of how I write.

(And I think that episode killed everyone's future CMC stories--mine included.)

Uhm, I may try better outlines, I currently use them but maybe I need to be more specific. I also suspect I'll need to do some writing exercises, just to become faster in producing coherent stuff.
