You know, it makes sense that it would be partially her fault that the world ends. Both her and Twilight are the two most likely to cause an apocalypse event.

It really was feeling like a new story.. all new characters.. new world... and new plot basically. so this seems like a good decision.

Gotta admit, while I agree it's not the same story anymore, I don't like the split. The original story doesn't have a proper ending and this 'Pinkie continuation' isn't a sequel.

Oh, so that's what happened.
Makes sense, I think. It is a new story, it is based on that story (so sequel is justified), and it would be logical to finish this with a third story, that will be a proper ending to them both.
And they are sequels to each other. Time loops, whoohoo!
