    Xlibris

Hey, you guys ever hear of Xlibris? I've got an offer from them to publish my book, but I'm getting some shady vibes from some of the reviews I've read about them. Any thoughts?

    Amazon's changing it's print costs.

So, as of June 20th, Amazon will be changing its print costs. Specifically, everything is going to be a bit more expensive. If you were on the fence for buying a physical copy of my books, now's the time to change your mind, seeing as how the price is going to increase in a couple of months. Thought I'd give you all the heads up.

    What I Am: Aftermath chapter.

Hey, guys, I'm writing a conclusion chapter for What I Am. Nothing too substantial, given that a sequel and spin off already exist, but I thought I'd put it down as both a way to let those that don't exactly follow me (or, at the very least, don't follow my blog) know that the second book is out, and also know that A Darkened Sky is about to get a whole lot of chapters.

    Fool's Gambit.

Man, did you ever go back and just... cringe at what you did before? That happened to me with Fool's Gambit. The story has plenty of potential, that's not the problem. My problem is with how it's written. The prose is off, there are numerous errors, and I feel like the whole thing is rushed. Like, that first part could have easily been 4-5 chapters longer, and it would have been better for

(Cough, cough, I have a patreon, please don't hate me, cough). · 5:00pm Sep 22nd, 2015

So, as my awkward title has informed you, I do, in fact, have a patreon now.

Yes, I will continue to make stories for all of you.

No, you don't have to support me to get content, or to get sneak peeks, or any of that stuff.

What this is is basically a way for you to support me, and help me keep my stories coming. I've actually come up with some really good rewards if you pledge to help.

Please, I'm not asking to be paid, all I'm trying to do is provide you guys with a tangible way you can help me create these stories.

Also, if you can think of better rewards, don't hesitate to throw them out! I'm not saying I'll actually do it, but I am saying that I'll consider it.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the last actual update you posted was a month ago and barely 4000 words long. I distinctly doubt that money has any kind of influence on it or would help you create anything whatsoever. I'm really not about to blame any author for accepting donations, but after a certain point and when phrasing it like that? It only looks brazen.

3412075 Um, bro? the last update I did was a week ago. For The Nautilus Protocol. The last update before that? Two weeks, A Hiss in the Dark. Just because I haven't updated my most popular story, doesn't mean that I haven't updated anything, nor does it mean that I've been idle.

Besides, how else am I supposed to phrase it? This is my first time doing this, and no matter what I wrote, everything made me sound like a twat.

Don't mind him, he can be a bit brash about stuff like that.
I like that you don't go the route of paywalling but instead give additional rewards. While I can't afford anything due to crisis and war in my country (that, and I would probably order a story about Scootaloo dominating a submissive RD because there is not a single story like this out there, but you don't do NSFW), I still want to warn you about dangers of Patreon.

Their system is very-very fragile. You should add some notes to the bottom about accepting write requests and other reward claims only AFTER N number of donations has been actually made. I know of folks who jump in with wrong crediting info, grab the content, place a request and then unsubscribe before the time to pay comes or their payment just doesn't get processed. So be aware of that.

And also, I doubt that's gonna be the case, but you should set a limit on these. Or else you either end up writing a lot of fics at once with a gun barrel pointed to your head, or the stories will drown in an endless sea of crappy OCs.

3412196 Thanks man! Already changed my patreon to reflect the "n amount of donations" thing.

Don't know how many times I'll do the rewards yet, though. I'll sleep on it, then change it later.:pinkiehappy:

Good luck! I tried offering story commissions, but didn't really pan out like I had planned. Maybe you should try that too?

If you pledge ten dollars, you will have a cameo character of your design appear in one (or more) of my stories!

I see the potential for something hilariously awful to happen here. I could just imagine a troop of mary sue alicorn OCs just wandering about in your stories.

I want to donate so badly, but I'm seriously tight on cash right now. Once my money business is all sorted out, you're totally going to be writing about my original character, Donut Steel.

Unfortunately, money's tight for me too, or I'd make a donation. Still, I wish you luck, and I'm rooting for you. :pinkiehappy:

1. I don't have a debit/credit card
2. I'm a college student. Spending money is not a luxury I can afford...
