Orbiting Kettle

I've roasted a wealth of exotic things, All torn to ribbons at the hands of kings. Polished copper how I proudly shone, stealin' the fire of the blazing sun.

Things I like and that will probably give you a glimpse of how I work - Part I · 12:08pm Sep 10th, 2015

Thinking about world-building, I came to the realization that I basically read a lot and then slice, grind, mix and bake things. I may expand a bit on this later, but for now I thought about sharing cool things that influence me, that are good examples of original or solid setting creation, or that simply let you think about details in a different manner. This will have to wait for a dedicated post, in the meantime:

Kill Six Billion Demons is glorious, beautiful, full of sense of wonder, a lot of gore and some sex (probably N(exactly)SFW). It is a spectacular example of taking religion and theology, smashing it and rebuild something coherent while turning the weirdness up to eleven. It stays coherent within it's own set of rules.

Hey wow! I already read it (and dear god, is that update hilarious while also making a lot of sense), but I have to say:

It stays coherent within it's own set of rules.

Rules? What rules? I ain't seen no rules there :-D :-P :-D

Rules? What rules? I ain't seen no rules there :-D :-P :-D

Why, they are quite simple:
1)Everyone lies
2)Words have power
3)You are probably wrong

Jokes aside, the various rules are the ones defined by the ruling societies. The ones hinted at are respected, and when they are broken there are some consequences. Obviously, I could have been blinded and it is all smoke and mirrors (wonderful world-building technique).:pinkiehappy:
