Ash vs. The End of the End

I feel the need to speak about how differently the key events of Season 9 would play out in the Order-naries 'verse, but at the same time I don't feel up to making a proper story out of it. I'm going to split the difference with this blog, outlining what would happen without giving too much detail.

    And the magic goes on...

What a way to end the series. From a story-crafting standpoint, I have some complaints about how the final two-parter got rolling, and the resolution isn't how I'd have handled it.
The overall execution, however, and especially the final final episode, were wonderful.

    Still can't help myself.

I promised I'd focus on Pumahara after I finished Storm-chased, and I honestly have tried to get the next chapter done, but my silly, silly brain just can't leave the Order-naries 'verse slot on my WIP list empty for very long.

    Storm-chased complete and changed

I put up the last chapter of Order-naries: Storm-chased a couple days ago. After looking at it, though, I found myself dissatisfied with the last couple paragraphs, so I've gone back and replaced them with a new, better-paced scene. One that I think works better for Ash and Rarity meeting the dust has mostly settled.

Frustrations · 1:05am Jul 25th, 2015

I'm trying to finish my fics, but my mind keeps drifting to what comes after: possible new entries for the Order-naries Equestria and the fourth installment of the Aitran series.

The Aitran 4 thing has led to my biggest current frustration, however: getting at the source material. I've gone off at length about my issues getting Myst games to run on my computers over the years over on my tumblr, so I'll just summarize here. Myst IV: Revelation refuses to cooperate with me. It installed fine, but something between my graphics processor, CD/DVD drive, and the Myst IV disc that contains the actual "play the game" data has gone kaput so that the best I can get after waiting a couple minutes for the disc to even read is a screenshot menu on my desktop that I cannot interact with. It's frustrating me to no end because I've been waiting eleven days for the game to arrive in the mail, and a lot of that time my mind has been filled with nostalgic memories of the Ages of Myst IV and ideas of how to tweak them to fit ponies. All that has come to a frustrating halt by non-cooperative software.

It probably not a software problem but a hardware problem depending on how old your PC is. You may have to bite the bullet and get it off Steam... Which it isn't, damn they got I, II, I think III and V.

It aint on Steam. Nor GOG.com for that matter. I've checked. They've only got the various editions of Myst, Riven, and Myst V.

Why would they skip them?

Beyond those I have no suggestions

Ah, sorry about that. Good luck.

Perhaps you just need to bite the opposite bullet, such as it were, and see about getting a vintage computer to run the game on. Granted that might be a rather overly extreme expenditure just for the sake of a fanfiction. Then again, outdated hardware tech tends to be pretty cheep, assuming you can actually still find a working model at least. :applejackunsure:

Shame really though, video games being a media that can so rapidly be lost as technology marches on. I can still remember a game I had that was less than a year old, yet when I replaced my computer that same year I was suddenly no longer able to run it because the OS was just no longer compatible and emulation tech (or at least easy access thereto) just wasn't option back then.
