I Want to Torture You! · 3:33am Jul 7th, 2015

With a title like that, I'm sure there are tons of people lining up around the block. So here's the deal! I want to grab someone, take their virtual representation, and throw them into Equestria, as per the Silver Verse. This will be a collab for as long as you feel like working with me, until we get bored or hit a good stopping point and decide to let the story end. Ideally we'd bump our noggins together at least once per 3 days to bash out a chapter, with me playing the world around you. It's like roleplaying, except a story comes out of it!

Interested? List what you'd bring with you, and I'll pick semi-randomly say... Friday. Unless I do it early. I do that sometimes. If you aren't picked, it's not because I don't like you. I love all my readers! Your feedback and love fuels my terribly writing frenzy.

This should be interesting. After all, your goal is to torture their character, so it will probably be a series of train wrecks, crashing into each other.

Well, we've been working together, on "its OK to be a pony."

As for what I, bring? Lots of free time, a mind always brimming with insane ideas, and um...lots, and lots of references.

3213898 No no, what would you, the character, choose to bring with you, from earth. You would be playing you, by the way, if that wasn't clear.

Might just have to get in on this.

0.media.dorkly.cvcdn.com/36/35/6603dc5a9292104b44c349b85b5aaf7a-5-crazy-fan-theories-that-make-total-sense.jpg

EDIT. Item? My House. Difficulty? God-Mode Tier!

I wanna join! I'd bring a tent.

3213906 Ah OK. Makes sense. I'd bring with me my mp3 player, my father's necklace, and my copy of "The Works Of Edgar Allan Poe."

3213935 One thing! Though if you happened to already be holding it at the time, it doesn't count, so the mp3 player may get a free ride.

3213956 Ah, than, def the necklace

What I would bring is probably the entire set of pokemon TCG as well as my fond of robotics/engineering and a love of sports.

I bid one backpack, which may or may not contain a laptop, a couple charging cables (for the laptop and my phone) and some beef jerky, depending on the timing.

I wouldn't mind. I can take a beating. I can also be a devious anti-hero or villain. Let me put it this way, I'm a dedicated Lawful Evil in my moral alignment, which could be fun.

~Crystalline Electrostatic~

3214006 But you didn't say what you'd bring with you from Earth.

Well, none of my OCs are me, so you guys have fun with this.

I feel I should point out that it is very shortsighted to pick something that is dependent on Earth's infrastructure as your one thing. That is to say, anything gasoline or battery powered is likely to become useless in short order, since it is unlikely that Equestria has filling stations or electricity at the exact right voltage and frequency (and prong spacing). Guns would be dumb for a similar reason.

The most useful thing would be some sort of general purpose reference manual, such as the "Worst Case Survival Handbook" or its ilk.

3214014 That would be telling...

I got a backpack, with heavy-duty duck tape (the kind that you have to cut because it is too strong to just tear), a box knife, a rain poncho, a lighter, a flashlight, and a laptop bag strap, I know some basic bushcraft, so bring it on!

~Crystalline Electrostatic~

I am tempted, so very, very tempted.

Alright then, so what I would bring with me would be a book and pen, a backpack containing a basic survival kit, and a towel. I would already have my keys, wallet, and phone on me, and I wear glasses so I'm not counting those.

I'm down. Whatever I'm wearing is good right? So then I would come equipped with One set of clothes (black cargo pants with lots of pockets and accompanying gray polo shirt) and the important part. One over the shoulder messenger bag inside which you would find three pencil's of varying width, one blank notebook. and nothing else. (Other than digital watch but I consider that part of my clothing.)

Besides, I couldn't collab on It's okay... cause my laptop was down. Now that it's up again I can finally type for real!

3214025 What do OCs have to do with this madness?

3214025
For my own part, I mostly consider the backpack itself the most useful part of my own bid. The beef jerky would run out quickly, as would batteries, and the laptop would probably ultimately prove its worth as an improvised weapon more than anything else. But man... being able to carry stuff. Priceless.
Seriously.
Pony saddlebags would be totally wrong for a human, and someone like Rarity would have a much easier time repairing or replacing a functional backpack than trying to figure out from scratch what one should be shaped like.
(That said, Silververse canon is that the ponies are capable of powering a human PC with some effort, and having done that work once it would be much easier to repeat their success. However, it would not be trivial for a new human to learn that, as very few ponies even know.)

An aluminum bat.

A copy of Ponyfinder. Useless in a survival situation? Maybe. But this way I now I got a free copy of PonyFinder. :scootangel:

3214296

Silververse canon is that the ponies are capable of powering a human PC

Yeah, but there's still no internet, and no printers, and what good is a computer without those? Best case scenario, you can use your computer to be rude and isolationist, and you can do that just as well with books.

3214216 I meant, I never fictionalize myself; it's really hard and pretty boring.

3215071 Silver played some vidja games with friends? But it mostly became a fancy curiosity.

3215071
I agree the lack of those devices severely reduces the value of the computer. But Excel alone adds a massive bit of convenient math processing capabilities that can be quite useful for something like running a small business or otherwise keeping organized. Word allows for typing up notes that can be kept password locked so not everypony can just flip open your notebook and read it like with pen and paper. And while not everyone can claim this, I have compilers and know how to use them, so I could write new programs to do new things if I have an idea that is within my skill level to implement (and have the time to do so).

So, with the benefits of a power source it wouldn't be useless... just far less useful than here on Earth where there is infrastructure to empower it.

Also it's heavy, reasonably sized, and fairly hard. If it comes down to it: improvised weapon!

3214376 An elegant weapon from a more civilized age.:moustache:

Have you got your towel? (I can't believe no one has made that joke yet)

3215556

a backpack containing a basic survival kit, and a towel.

So you did. That was subtle. Kudos.

Well I am too busy irl to do this but for the fun of it the items I would bring would be:
A hiking backpack with a frame, sleeping bag, lighter, Chu ko nu style repeating crossbow, 40 quarrels, Bowie Knife, Leatherman multi-tool, Solar or kinetic charging led flashlight, Canteen, Water purification tablets, Small pot, 1 set camp silver ware, Basic first aid kit, 250 tablets amoxicillin just in case there are similar microflora in equestria as on earth, beef jerky, trail mix, a set of warm and hot weather clothes clothes treated to be water resistant, a good set of hiking boots, compass. a small tarp to function as a makeshift shelter and raincoat. Tablet computer with wikipedia downloaded, Literature on tablet to include Shakesphere, Art of war, survival guide, Lord of the rings, for shits put MLP stuff too, Solar tablet charger.

3218385 That is a lot of things for '1' thing. Would all that fit in the backpack?

3218405
yes it should but I mean a true backpack, like this
http://s.stpost.com/eccstorefront/product_images/85035/f_85035_1.1.jpg

not the typical bookbag that people think of.

3218418 Well, you're not starting anywhere near civilization.

3218422 I figured that would be the case anyway so I just prepared myself as it were lol.

Quick question. I already did my list, but should we be going under the assumption that we're not going to have much time to choose what we want? You are torturing us after all, it'd make sense that you'd give us little time to choose what we want.

3222842 Oh, no, you're kind of put on the spot. Waffling a lot would get you skipped, and that would be a short story.

3222859
I thought so, just wanted to confirm my suspicions.

Ah, might as well as try and throw my hat into the ring (or something like that), I would take a roll of high quality duct tape (or if the voice is lenient on this kind of thing a very damaged backpack with a roll of duct tape, a small one handed pickax in it and a oak walking staff jammed through the side (or even just the pickax, duct tape and damaged backpack since those fit inside of it)). My standard attire would likely have a negative effect considering one piece I am nearly always am wearing is a long leather jacket, willing to bet that would be highly frowned upon. Well here is hoping, this could definitely be an interesting thing to do!

3225171 The backpack must already contain the things you want, so unless you normally have a survival backpack laying around with all those goodies in it, no go. On the other hoof, if you normally wear the jacket, and are when the question's popped, the jacket's free!

3225591 Sadly I stopped keeping those things in the backpack a couple of months ago, I figured your answer would be as such, but as they say no harm in asking. Hurrah for the jacket likely being free on the other hand though, with the pockets it has and my duct tape I would be set for nearly anything!

Soooo, has the torturee been selected yet?

3228786
If a torturee has been selected would they know?
And will an attempt to trick you into a round of 20 questions actually work?

3228895 I'd hope so! If I picked anyone. Which I maybe did.

3228903
Why are you being so evasive? There's no reason for unless... :pinkiegasp:
You said maybe twice, which comes out to ten letters total, which isn't divisible by three. Illuminati confirmed!

Is that joke even still a thing?

3229006 I'm pretty sure that joke will never die.

Er... I'm probably too late, and I don't quite understand the circumstances, but in the event that I'm not too late, I'd gladly take a stab at it! I'd probably bring clothes, a bottle (for water), and my phone, simply because those are the things I'd normally have on my person. Best of luck to everyone, if a victim hasn't yet be chosen. Or would it be worst of luck? Hm...

Ooooh, I read through the rules now, and this seems very interesting. So, I take it when you're working on a chapter, it's more like literally roleplaying than I thought at first, and that's where I was confused. I'm sure you've chosen a "victim" at this point, and are probably already working with them, but if another opportunity arises, expect me to race for the opportunity!

3270117 I posted the story, with plenty more material to go, and we're still writing! Waves of Change.

3270151 Derp, I kept on waiting for a blog post to be made confirming the winner, or an announcement post of some kind. Well, I'll be reading this in a little bit :D

3270161 I'll do that now. Sorry.
