Greece, chapters, Power metal and Handyman Can't Draw IV · 11:22pm Jul 2nd, 2015

So my little announcement last blog update was basically me taking EVERYTHIGN I OWN out of my savings in the Republic of Ireland north of the border and turning it all into sterling.

Why?

Because if Greece leaves the euro, the currency is going to devalue like a motherfucker and I have enough savings to not want that to happen. I couldn't afford a car or a place to live on my own (practically no person my age can in Ireland these days, most of us end up staying at home with our parents like it was in our Grandfathers' days now) but its still a significant sum to worry about.

Meanwhile the next chapter is an interlude, it should be ready for Monday. I say should because reasons. Don't hold your breath. But it should be out and then immediately after that will be the chapters that took place over the timeskip that occurred in the story just before the tournament arc began. I know I keep saying this but I have to do so, because not everyone is going to get it and will be really confused when it happens.

Now with that out of the way, here's what I have been listening to all week while drawing Prince Helios and his brother, Prince Eidolos.

More of whatever this is, please kthx.

Here is Prince Eidolos

I felt like going for a bit of fantasy Greek in terms of inspiration for the costumes of the two princes. With Eidolos here, obviously a standin for Princess Luna, with a bit more of an ancient Greek flair than his brother, whose inspiration was strictly Byzantine, especially Helios' crown. Its part of a fantasy aesthetic I am trying to create which I call Baroque Fantasy. I do have a fic in mind involving these two as characters, but likely not as main characters and it likely will never see the light of day, but I felt like drawing them nonetheless, just for the sake of it.

No riddles or cyphers today, I am tired and couldn't think of any good ones. Maybe tomorrow.

Welp, so much for sleeping tonight.

3201037 Sweet Dreams.

3201039 lol.

This looks pretty cool, I'd read that fic.

Wait, its nearly Monday again?

Fuck, that went quick.

3201075 Speak for yourself, work has been a drag lately.

Looks very...tragic. Eidolos? The ghost of the sun?
I think I've heard similar music, anyways.

3201085 If work was meant to be fun it wouldn't be called work. And on that note, it probably fits that this week flew by because I din't work a single day of it.

It's a good thing he has Alicorn-strength in order to flap wings that big.:twilightoops:

Quick! Someone buy the Greece!

3201315 Nah, Eidolos is from Eidolon, meaning an ideal form, or phantom. Essentially a dream. So figured it was an acceptable base word to draw Eidolos' name from and to fit in with Helios' name and the more Greek-ish inspiration for their theme to distance them from the more Romanesque feel of Celestia and Luna. The tragic face mask was an idea to give emphasis the subtle, mysterious feel I wanted to give him, as well as to give a bit of a sense of dread. EIdolos, unlike Luna, has no problem flaunting his darker reputation at times. More of a spymaster to Helios' Lord Militant.

3201335 Lucky bastard...

3201346 Heresy!

3201455 I took a slightly more realistic approach to wing proportions for these Alicorns, as in this would be close to the size of the wings neccessary for an equine his size to fly on basic biological mechanics (in fact even then I think they're too small), and thats before I take into account alicorn strength and natural pegasus magic to aid in flight.

trust me, he has no problem using those wings of his whatsooever. I just wanted an excuse to draw big wings with interlacing primary feathers near the top of the image. It'd be about the size of Helios' wings in the previous image would be if he fully extended them outwards.

3201945 Shit be expensive, yo!

3202174 Trust me. The novelty of free time wares off pretty quick when free time is all you have.

3202174 Well yeah, 'phantom'. Thought it might have been a play on the physical characteristics of the moon's light. As in it shines with light reflected from the sun. I did look up 'Eidolon'.

On the mask thing, it kind of makes Eidolos look more like an artistic leader as well. Was that intentional? (I don't really feel or see the 'fear' but I see where you're coming from..)

3201346 All that disgusting Touhou.

3203541 Well the phantom aspect of being a reflection of the sun is another accurate representation but probably not int he context of the MLP world where the nighttime seems to bring its own competing source of light as opposed to simply reflecting sunlight.

but the artistic side was also intentional, I felt that while making Eidolos much more of an enigmatic and dangerously subtle figure, being a patron of the arts would be suitable for him.

3203567 Just checking, seems like an interesting figure so far. You said you were going to make a genderswappedequetria story?

3203573 Sure as soon as I figure out a damn plot for the thing, all I have is worldbuilding material right now. The only rules so far is A)no multiverse, so no fooling around with other versions from other universes, so none of the characters are aware of their canon selves, so none of that shipping nonsense that occurs in 100% of other genderswap fics, b)seriously consider the changes, everything down to the aesthetics, of what a patriarchal Equestria that lived under the two thousand year reign of Helios would be like. The answer: in alot of ways surprisingly the same but in others amazingly alien.

For starters, everyone wears clothes all the time.

No I am not apologizing for it.

3203582 ? Apologize for what? I don't think there's anything to apologize for so far.

As long as you remember to introduce the characters you're going to have participate, I'm sure it'll be fine. Are you going to take an Adventure or a Slice-of-Life approach?

3203586 Adventure. I don't do slice of life unless its a part of the adventure.

3203592 Female protagonist?

3203693 Already have another story lined up with a female protagonist, not sure about this one. Remember: I don't have a plot yet, its just world building ideas for now.

3203701 K. Sounds likes something to look forward to.

3204118 Ech. Don't deny the irritation Touhou brings. Starting a fandom, spreading it liberally like butter, pouring it into the fat of the pan to fry, diluting via fiction a material that's started as nothing more than an arcade shoot-em-up, is beyond farcical in nature.

So don't frown at me, frown at the writer that chose to further dissuade audiences from viewing their fiction by splitting it into thousands of stories, requiring you to read each one to have even a fraction of understanding of what one story even attempted to talk about, all the while forgetting to even introduce characters that one should never be expected to know.

Additionally, your music doesn't fit. It's too alive, arcade-y. Too action-oriented.

3204330 Ech, excuse me from recognizing an individual from it in the art.

3204406 -_-

Just because it's a spinoff doesn't mean it's any different. It's still connected to the same work.

3204417 I'm even less interested now.

3204572 Ya just got booped mate.

3205055 Kind of figured, I guess?
