In Which Pie Becomes Bread · 11:30pm Mar 29th, 2015
I'll be honest with you guys, I kinda thought Pie Am Bread would do better than it did, but I guess that's what I get for crossing over with an indie title that isn't Five Nights at Freddy's. Nothing a push from Equestria Daily couldn't accomplish, so that's where I'll be submitting it in the future. But for now I want to thank everyone for who read it for actually reading it.
I'll admit right now that the ending was just as unexpected for me as it was for you readers. Originally, I had planned that Science!Twilight had hypnotized Pinkie into thinking she was bread, which would have been revealed at the very end when she reads the next morning's newspaper. Quite a bit of the dialogue foreshadowed this until I came to the realization that we don't exactly know how malicious Science!Twilight actually is, or how lacking in empathy she would have to be in order to pull such a stunt... even if it WAS in the name of science.
Either way, I think I like the "official" ending better. I dunno, I just like the idea of magic being in the EqG world -- a kind of magic that, unlike the pony world, is largely ignored instead of celebrated.
And in regards to everyone who's worried I'm not writing Equestrylvania anymore, you can put your worries to rest. Another chapter comes tomorrow, featuring the returns of some of our favorite Castlevania villains. And maybe in another couple months we'll see another chapter.
Till then, later potaters!
Isn't that every new fan fiction ever published that isn't a clop fic or have a sexual image?
On the topic of FNaF, I'm sure you could write something far scarier. Anyone who finds cheap jump scares to be the epitome of terrifying really need to reevaluate what led them to think that.

Even a lot of clopfic is beautifully written, Spides. Unfortunately, those never get into the feature box. Bad clopfic is only up there for the same reason Fifty Shades of Grey sold so well. It is unapologetically bland, brainless escapism. It is a fantasy many people share and requires very little effort on the part of the readers to understand its sequence of events. Generic, lowest-common-denominator garbage is what ends up being popular for the moment, but it rarely survives the public eye long enough to be a classic.

Claiming that jumpscares is all Freddy's has to offer is like saying all I can write are crossovers. There's so much more to way those games are scary. For me it's the build-up. The choking atmosphere. Everything about the environment and the creatures out to kill you and the sheer amount of horrible implications in the game all make my skin crawl.
2924194 Ah... Touche. But I've never met a clop fic I liked... Granted I'm not looking that hard and I'm sure they're out there.
But that's what really bothers me, those "Generic, lowest-common-denominator garbage" takes away from artists that are actually trying and want to do well. It takes away from them and that really irks me.
But I guess there's not much I can do about it. So might as well not let it bother me. I'd like to think that everything balances out in the end. The authors who work hard get rewarded, those who don't and pull a "Michael Bay" they'll get what they deserve in the end.
