TheJediMasterEd just submitted his first fimfiction story (apart from the ones he's scattered throughout blog posts and comments), "Beneath your feet, what treasures". It should come out in an hour or so, barring Meeester or Shadowflash. (EDIT: It's out!)
I like this story very much. I recommend it, but I think most people won't like it.
-- It has an unusual ship, and a lot of ponies will crash and burn when they hit it ("No! How?"), and be unable to read the story, because they'll be looking for justifications of the ship, or trying to figure out whether he really means that ship, and the ship is not what it is about.
-- We say "You're mine" about both our love and our possessions. What does "You're mine" mean when a dragon says it? What would he do if his pony upbringing and his dragon instincts are at odds? The story has interesting things to say about this, but I think most people have too simple an understanding of language and love to even frame the questions it's trying to answer, so they'll come to the end of it and say "What?"
Anyway, it's short. 1444 words. Consider it a test. If you don't like it, you fail.

The story is beautiful and well-crafted, and it really doesn't need any sort of preemptive defense.
I have been waiting for this day.
Read it, liked it, am writing up a set of reviews that puts it on top (along with The Symposium, which also went up today).
Now I just need to decide what three other
victimsrecent stories to read...Well that's one test I'm passing with flying colors!
