Brushed Away 2 update · 11:22pm Mar 10th, 2015
Hey guys! I just wanted to talk about my story Brushed Away 2, and explain a few things that I think need to be addressed.
First off, I realized that my initial story layout for BA2 is WAY too long to be its own story. I was wanting to end this with Troy and Canvas's wedding, but given how this story has already gotten to the length of my first one, I think I'll have to save the wedding for a part 3. Honestly, the fact that I've written SO MUCH involving this story is kinda off-putting. I mean, I've written almost half a million words worth of gay romance for an OC couple, which I have no idea how to feel about. Anyway, I'm going to have BA2 focus on the family conflicts (including what's to come), and THEN have part 3 focus on the wedding that comes a few months later in the story (after the season 4 finale).
Also, I'm going to try to make shorter chapters from now on, in hopes that it would get me to write at a faster rate and upload them more frequently. Considering that I'm making chapters which are 10k-words at a time, it might be good to go back to my roots, and update at a simpler rate.
And finally, I have some good news and sorta less-than-good news. The good news: I have a chapter written, which I plan to upload tomorrow morning.
The less-than-good-news: It's going to be an interlude chapter of sorts.
Since I'm wanting to update with shorter chapters, I decided to try it with this one, and my editor stated that it might not be bringing the story forward as much as I had hoped. While I did try to add some development between two characters (as well as some details which will come to play later during the family dinner scene), it's sort of an in-between thing before we get to the main event. So, this will be my first chapter which will be more than a .5 than a full-blown continuation of the story. So please, please don't get upset if you read it and feel like:
I'm starting a new technique to try writing more frequently, and this is my first shot at it. Hopefully you guys will still like it.
Other than that, I just want to wish everyone a nice Tuesday night, and hope to share more updates soon!
I am planning a series as well, but nothing near half a million words.
Do whatever you feel is best, man. I'm sure we'll enjoy the result.
The chapter feels fine, don't worry. I think the shorter chapters are perfectly good so far as length goes, and if this allows you to increase the frequency, then there should be no pronlemx , more likely there will be improvements.
