Archmage (Sequel? Prequel? Inbetween-quel?) · 7:52am Mar 8th, 2015
So I've been mulling things over the past few days, and one thought struck me the hardest:
We never got to see Twilight as a non-alicorn fully-realized Archmage.
There's a whole 120-some-odd year gap in the chapter 'End of an Era - Part 1' that was never addressed or utilized. Holy CRAP there's some room to do something epic there! I realized in the past week particulalry how much of a hole I've written myself into. Beyond the Crystal Mirror exists to flesh out alternate universes, Square One is it's own thing...
But what about those years? There's so much room for activities events in there, all with everyone's favorite purple mage. Maybe Chrysalis makes a resurgence, driving a wedge between Twilight and Luna that ievitably damages or strengthens their relationship? Maybe Twilight does some clandestine espionage to defuse a war? Maybe she duels a fucking dragon? These and more are possibilities, including sticky, nasty bucking sweet, passionate lovemaking with Loyal's cardinal ship the SS Twiluna.
I get the feeling I'm going to explore this idea in one form or another, but how do you folks feel about another Archmage story, this time exploring Twilight's undocumented years as Archmage? I cannot guarantee any of the following, but it's certainly inside the realm of possibility this new story would include:
-Badass magical Twilight doing badass magical things
-potential villans from recent/forthcoming MLP episodes getting Archmage cameos
-Twiluna goodness
-world-building
-dragons? Dragons?! DRAGONS!
-MORE Madness Brony animosity!
-political intrigue.
-Twilight channeling her inner Phoenix Wright to 'Lawyer' more unsuspecting ponies
-Barriers, Shields, and Bolts, oh my!
-More. Fucking. ARCHMAGE.
Let's see some feedback, yeah? I want to know how the loyal readers of my most famous story would feel about seeing more of the original tone and characters explored further.
Anxiously looking forward to the future,
-Loyal
I would love to see some more expansion of her character when she is an Archmage but not an Alicorn.
yes. just all of my yes.
I agree with 2859015 ... yes to ALL. I am ALWAYS thirsting for MOAR Archmage
2859018 your back from the dead?!? do the hand thing!
2859014
That is PRECISELY what this story will be.
YES. I fully support more Archmage!
I was somewhat hesitant when you originally mentioned possibly expanding Twilight's exploits as the Archmage out in a potential rewrite largely because of how Archmage itself was structured that made me feel that an expansion as part of that story would seem unnecessary and drawn out. However if you are planning to expand and build upon Twilight and her adventures as the Archmage before her Ascension as a separate story then I'm all for that.
Absolutely yes! Honestly I wouldn't be able to pick any one of those or give any advice for fear of destroying something.... But what I do know is, no matter what you do, I'll definitely love it!
You caught me at
, and continued to reel in with
. I'll be flopping around on the deck as I wait for the dargons.
yes plz.
all of my yes plz.
I'd love to see more barriers, shields and bolts, oh my. Plus who can turn down the amazing TwiLuna. Arcmage is an amazing universe. So i can't wait to read more of it.

There ARE sequels in production. I'm not sure if you knew that or not, just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't.

Ya. I just mean another one. Never can get enough.
I'd love to see some simple Slice-of-Life stuff from Twilight's time as archmage. It doesn't need to be huge heart-rending drama, just some interesting stories would be great.
A lot of the recent stuff has felt like it's gone so heavy on the sad & dark angles that just getting some interesting, perhaps even (dare I say it) happy and mostly calm moments would feel like a real treat.

I don't think it'd be any world-rending, life-ending, god-tier prophecy or anything. Mostly just Twilight's regular life as Archmage and some other not-so-major problems.
Like Chrysalis' return. Or dragon elders threatening to burn Equestria down because of some feud a century ago that's only now cropping up because that all came back from their century-long naps.
You know, small stuff.

I think that'd be great, as I appended to my earlier statement, some normal (for the archmage) calm & happy moments would be great to see. I don't know how you might feel about this idea, but one of the things that I always love imagining is Twilight encountering some very thorough bureaucracy, and just thinking of how she might react to it, improving it, destroying it outright, or perhaps even streamlining it to make it all that much more inscrutable.
I approve this message.... well I want more "Archmage"..... please?
wouldnt mind seeing somthing like were rights of accention is at now with twi doing missions

2859018 i'm with these guys. That's all I can say cause I am very bad with words
I can really only say one thing without truly rambling in regards to this statement: Hell yeah!
One thing I commented on Way Back When was that the timeskip you threw in seemed like a waste of potential story, and it wasn't something I liked all that much. So getting the chance to see what actually happened in those years? Eeyup! I would like to see that.
Animosity is to weak a word. If you wasted anymore time on what is arguably your worst fic I'd have to find some way to personally remove your hands and replace them with giant foam fingers that read "I made terrible life choices".
YES
I will always approve of the expansion of the Archmage universe, and honestly the premise for this one sounds more interesting to me than the other ones you are currently working on.
HOWEVER, I would very much rather you pick a story and just stick with it! I never read a story until it says "Complete", so your writing multiple stories and thus taking that much longer to finish any of them deprives me of reading them. Plus there's the increased risk of you burning out and not finishing any of them!
YES PLEASE!
Do you even need to ASK if we want this? Of course we do!
I'll take 'Yes' for a thousand, Alex
