Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

Just as alicorns descend upon parched wastelands bearing storms and seeds, so too do kindly translators upon my horsewords. Dark Country's received a Russian translation by the kind efforts of

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

Motion among the finalists · 2:09am Feb 12th, 2015

The Motion of the Stars is amongst the More Most Dangerous Game's finalists.

The last time I got a story amongst the finalists for a competition - Moonlight Palaver, for the Outside Insight competition, the same mixture of elation and terrified anticipation went through my head that's going through it now. And who knows? Maybe I can make it all the way to the winning rankings again. But even if this is as far as I get, holy bejesus, that company. Losing to some of those names, and some of their stories that I've been able to read so far, would be nothing to be ashamed of. I'm especially thrilled to see There is Another Sky by Lambent Dream up there. It deserves lots more love, and should hopefully get it as a result of this.

As nice a way to greet the early morning as any. Sleep should probably happen now, though.

YO! Boss man! Congrats!

Keep that leprechaun wedged in there tight until the deadline though!

Congratulations!

I've yet to read Motion of the Stars, but I will once I get the time – and I'm sure I'll love it. I loved Moonlight Palaver, The White Horse, Second Sun, and The King in the Mountain all because of one main reason: you're seriously talented at writing tense scenes.

It definitely deserved its spot. Congratulations!

Yeah well...you're also in with the guy who wrote Cards Against Equinity.
Not quite the same feeling I'll wager.

Got him wedged in good and hard! And he's staying there, no matter what he or the law or public decency or basic human empathy says. Courses are meant to be stayed.

Thank you kindly. There's a wee bit of tenseness in this one as well. The apocalypse does that to stories.

Thank you kindly in turn.

I'm up against that handsome devil? This is wonderful. Man, let me tell you, if I wasn't worried that guy would stumble across this blog somehow, I'd list off all my most explicit fantasies involving that stallion of a writer carrying me off in his strong, manly, authorial arms. On the off-chance he'd see this, though, I'd better not. It'd be a bit uncomfortable.

Congratulations.
