    Hi, There

I wrote something. You may have missed that because it's for a contest entry, and I don't like to promote those before the contests is over; but I did write something.

Why I Wrote My Most Despised Story

About a week ago I published my twenty-fourth story. It has gone on to become the lowest rated story I have ever written. I sense I have some 'spainin' to do. Why did I write "...And I Will Name Him George!"?

Quizzical Greystone Meets Her Old Magic Tutor

(this takes place in the future; eight, perhaps nine, oh let's just call it several seasons into the future. Spoilers may occur. Or maybe not. If concerned, consult a calendar then relax).

The banging of the door knocker at the entrance of the Castle of Friendship rang through the castle's front hall.

"I will get it," called Quizzical Greystone.

The Windigoes are coming for me... I can Hear Them... They'er almost on top of me...!!! · 12:53am Feb 3rd, 2015

I normally love winter. I normally enjoy plowing my drive-way, actually. Very large (seatible) power tools and privacy, combined with a mindless repetitive task to be alone with my thoughts, who wouldn't love that?

But I'm not doing so well right now.

My drive-way is long. I have my seasonable business in the front yard, so I'm set back 700 yards from the road. I plow with a riding mower. To say that it's "crotchety" would be an understatement. I'm crotchety, the mower is more like "barely functional." I got my wife out this morning to get to school, but that was a very near thing.

I'm doing what I can. I'm enough of a "man's man" to understand what's wrong, but not enough of a man's man to fix it. Someone with a big, V-eight, four-by-four could finish my drive-way in the time it takes me to get my tractor started. But it's a snow emergency. All the local snow removal companies are on voice mail only. Gee, just fancy that, they're all away from their phones

School is important to my wife. At 47, she's gone back to school, earned high honors, and has generally become an example to everyone we know. School is an hour's commute when the thruway is good. The thruway is not good tonight, our drive-way is much worse. So, to get to class on time tomorrow, she's decided stay in the city instead of coming home tonight.

I support this decision, mostly. I'll wait for the plow professionals, and she can get to class on time. I've been alone with our three little dogs before; it will be a sausage fest with just us. We've done it before.

But it's Groundhog's Day. This is not our wedding anniversary, it's not something most of you would take seriously.

It's just the anniversary of our first date.

I feel so very alone.

Why are the windigoes swirling all around me? Have I offended anyone, have I hurt anyone's feelings? Am I in a fight with any of you, and I just don't know it? If so, I give - you win, sorry.

Please, just anything, if only it would stop snowing, and a plow-guy would just answer his phone.

I am very much in favor of no more snow. Here's a picture from today of a car parked out on the street by my place:

All that snow up north and it's not even cold enough to wear a coat in the south.

2765533 It is in my part of the South.:ajbemused:

There's a lot of snow. Sorry that it's managed to affect you like this. Hope the streets will be clear(ish) for you soon.

God bless you, and I pray things go better for you. You Are Not Alone.

Sending warm thoughts your way. Hug Quiz for me.

Snow isn't driven by emotion magic in this world. (If it were, the whole planet would be buried in ice and snow.) As far as I know, you haven't ticked anyone off. Just think warm thoughts.

I'm really sorry to hear about the bad state your in with all the snow.
