    An Announcement

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today is a special day. For years now, I have been working silently, crafting a tale that I have kept in the background for this entire time as I strung keystrokes together for this site.

    Character Analysis: Rarity

    Ah, Rarity.

The things I could say about her. You see, dear Rarity was what brought me to the fandom you see. It was summer of 2012, and there I sat in the living room, with a want of something to do, when there on the TV guide was "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Now, I had heard of some weirdos who actually liked this show, so I decided, "Eh, why not see what the deal is?"

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    So...

The latest Chapter of Marks of War seems to have disappeared.

I'm going to have to rewrite a good chunk of stuff.

    This is so uncool...

    It'll be back...

See you all later, I guess.

Edit: Something weird is going on. I've double posted for some reason.

    The Season 5 Finale

    It was...okay...

I mean, it started amazingly! The whole time travel/alt. universe thing was awesome. Yes, Wanderer D said that it didn't make sense because NNM would win every time, but since we saw Luna in the Discord universe, we can assume that someone found the Elements of Harmony, so it kinda does make sense.

    Character Analysis: Princess Celestia

Okay, okay, I know I said I do the Mane Six, but...well...the big problem with doing the mane six is that most people have a good hold on them. Pinkie sometimes gets the short end of the stick because she’s so hyperactive people skim over her, but that’s becoming less and less an issue as time goes on.

    Princess Celestia, however…

You know...sometimes I hate you guys. *SPOILER WARNING* · 4:09am Jan 11th, 2015

"...Wow, Miner...that was...harsh..."

Well it's true!

"Are you going to explain why?"

I'm not sure I should bother.

*sigh* "Here, have some hot chocolate and a cookie."

*takes cookie angrily*

"Now, what's the problem?"

The problem? Here's the problem. I'm writing this story, and people are leaving left and right because they a bunch of whimps!

"Miner!"

It's true! I could tell them the truth, but if I do, I ruin this entire part of the story! "Oh Alan's dead! I don't like this anymore!" What do you care? He's a stupid OC.

"Miner..."

What? I want to tell a good story. I want to do that. That's all I want, and people are dropping before I can get to the really good part! I want to give you guys a good story, but you aren't willing to push past some ugly wrapping paper to get the present! What's the point!?

I...I'm just...disappointed in you guys.

"Aw...come on, Miner—"

No. Just...just let me stew for a little bit. I'll be fine...

"Miner...um...so...yeah...sorry guys. He's just a little frustrated right now. Yes, he's still going to keep writing, and he really does love you guys. We'll see you soon, guys."

People are seriously leaving just because Alan's dead? I mean, yeah, he's the main character but you've been going good just the same and (this is just speculation since I have no idea what's really going to happen) it seems to me that it was a staged death that he didn't have a choice over if he wanted to get rid of Chaos. That and the other parts of the story you've been adding, though I'm not sure what to think about the whole Batman & Joker thing you have with that bank robber and Mare-Do-Well, are pretty good. Either way I'm still enjoying the story so far.

I've seen people condemn a story because everything isn't explained in the first chapter... god help people who try and create a little build up or mystery.

But on the other hand, with fanfiction there's always the chance that the story will never be finished at all, so things like buildup, mystery and the dreaded cliff hanger are a double edged sword for all parties involved.

But screw them, dude, if they jump ship at the first sigh'n of a wave then they were just dead wight.

Even if what initially hooked me is gone you've still got a story I want to know the end of.

Main character death?

You've done that before, and promptly revived him!

I guess those people just forgot about that part...

2714735
Sorry, I was getting frustrated with people. It happens fairly early on...I'll put up a warning...

2714752 d
He's already stated he's not reviving him.

However, he's guaranteed us a happy ending, so I give DM the benefit of the doubt.

That being said, I am severely disappointed in how long you're taking to resolve this. I know Alan's not dead, but I want him back, soon. Perhaps a good once-over to maybe bring him back sooner would be in order. Please consider it.

So.

Other than doing the equivalent of shouting "I'M A WHINY PUSSY!" was there a point to this?

2714783
You're welcome to join the ones that are leaving.

The point was, sir, That I am disappointed in my audience, and I was wondering if there were any that were still worth writing for, or if this whole story was for naught, because all I've heard lately is whine, whine, whine. This, in essence was a poll. Glad to know you are not worth writing for, sir.

...says the guy who wants people to keep reading his stuff.

Did you know irony smells like maple syrup?

2714794
No point in writing for no one, but if there is one, just one, I'll be happy. The quota's been met, you are free to go.

Well, I want you to say this.

You have me hooked. As in, I read your story when I know I have time to commit to reading it without fear of rushing through the story. Or chapter. I have no plans to abandon ship. So as you said, you would write for just one if their was one.

That quota has been met. I am planning to stay and see where this story goes till the final chapter, the final page, final paragraph, to the final sentence and word. I look forward to what you have planned and what you are going to be crafting soon. With your twists and turns I do not know what to expect, and that, makes me very happy, as I have no clue what surprises you will bring.

I enjoy your Batman nods, even though I was not much of a Batman fan. Still I applaud you on that. I love how your story telling has flowed and improved with time, and how organic and natural this feels.

Yes I am sad at Pendragon's death. I am sad over that, but Their is the promise of a happy ending, and from own personal life experience, the happy ending is worth the wait.

((Sorry this turned into a review of your story, it kind of happened naturally)

...I know, I know, you're thinking to yourself "Maple syrup? I thought it would smell like cordite or sulphur or the tears of a baby dying from cancer!" and I'm honestly surprised myself, but there it is.

I am one of the readers 'hanging around' you blubbering asshat. Now stop bitching like a sixteen-year girl whose prom date dropped her for someone cuter and keep writing.

Or drown your sadness in endless containers of Ben & Jerry's.

You know. Whichever.

Well, people are confused and uncertain because the story has become confusing with an uncertain end, and it is only natural that some of them are going to bail. Would you rather receive comments that people are unhappy and are leaving, or just end up with fewer views and comments as the story goes along with no explanation as to why?

2714769

I agree with you on this. I, myself, am a little disappointed that it's being drug out like it is. The last few chapters, while it does have parts that add to the plot line of the story, is pretty much all about how Twilight is moping around and grieving for Alan. I understand that there has to be a part where she's grieving, but to me, it seems like all she's thinking about it what she's "lost" and not even caring about her son, Orion. I haven't seen much, if anything, about Orion in the past few chapters. Just Twilight getting drunk off her plot and bemoaning her situation. She won't let her friends help her and has moved to Canterlot to "get away from it all."

That is my one objection right now. Move the story along please. No more Weepy Twilight. That is the one thing turning me off right now. So I beseech thee to move the plot along.

Also, DM, your picture of "Snuggle Rarity" is freaking creepy. :pinkiecrazy:

...uh...whoa...damn did not think things were that serious in the reader pool over this story. Yeah, kinda a bummer you killed off the title character, but it's a BOLD move, and I gotta admire that should ya really stick to your guns here. That, and you are setting up a hell of a story here...not gunna lie, not really following the whole Mare-Do-Well/sudo-Joker thing and how that even is a thing to focus on, but I'm hanging tight here.

That all said, I DO want to see at least how Celestia and Luna come out of this. Twilight's a near complete mess, and I'm pretty sure the others of the Main 6 aren't coming out of this smelling like roses either. So, overall, ya've still got my attention, just...ya know...maybe be careful how MUCH wrapping paper ya put in before we get to the good stuff. Build up is all well and good...but well...

I direct you to the video below, at around the 15 minute Mark, as our beloved Major's words about war sum up my fanfiction experience rather well...and how I COULD see this build-up turning out to be...well...the only kind of war he DOESN'T like...

Also, if you enjoy Hellsing but never saw this before, enjoy, it's a hell of a good time!! And the previous 3 plus it's sequel rock hard! I highly recommend them!

Wow, this is was kinda unexpected to me. I didn't think people would get so mad that they would leave. I mean, yes you killed Alex but holy hell is the story taking a massive turn. Maybe some of the people who left left because if Alex was alive, it left us with the idea that their could have been a sequel. Now... I don't know. In all instances, you've kinda developed a little bit of a rep for completely turning things around in your storys. We all thought Alex was dead in the last one but you brought him back. I won't mention any other possibilities he survived but I'll still follow your work. I will remain optimistic that I will like or love the journey and/or ending of each of your other stories.

I've read FoE:PH, I'm used to people dying. It makes me sad, but you make/made one of the best series I've read. I ain't gonna stop just because one guy (dies?).

...I took a break from the story long before any of this happened. Back when Alan was first imprisoned after slapping Celestia,(Was that what happened? I can't really remember.) And that was because I had read another chapter that made me feel shitty right before, and I was hoping that chapter would make me feel better, and I was wrong. I fully planned to get back into it, and I still do, it'll just take a while longer before I do.

Sorry Miner for me leaving, but I do plan to come back.

Wait... People are actually leaving? Why would you leave in the middle of the story?! So far every single one of the Harmony for All stories have been great, so I'm expecting nothing less from this one. Also, leaving because the main character died, really? How stupid can you be? :facehoof:

Anyway enough ranting. You can be sure that I'll be here till the end because I trust you as a writer to make a great story. You have after all proven yourself plenty in the past.

Keep on keeping on!
~Valvatorez

I'm still here for you! I love the story with any turn it takes. I'm not going to bash on other peoples choices although I don't see why they'd leave it's a great freakin story! But know Ill always be reading and waiting for the next chapter!:pinkiehappy:

why are folk leaveing it's a good story I'm waiting for the next chapter

Personally I love what you have done because most times you know characters are mortal but stories rarely show what an impact there eventual death will have after they are gone also the joker esque character is scary but mysterious.

just a stupid oc?! he was the main character! and more he was twilights husband!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see posts like this all too often. To each story worth reading I have the same response... Mostly aimed at the people that choose to abandon the story, but also to the author. It's a slightly modified quote. Brownie points if you can identify the source.

I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Author. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Author, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

The point being. A story worth reading is going to beat up your emotions. It will be dark, sad, and depressing. But, if one fails to hang on and keep reading, you'll never know what lies beyond that darkness. The night is always darkest before the dawn after all.

2720731
TMW you realize that's the quote for that I picked for that book...

2720810

I actually did not realize this. Lol. Or I may have forgotten. Meh. Either way, it is still my go to for such purposes. :)

I'm not abandoning ship, not after I liked your first story so much... However, I do still wonder what the heck you're up to, even if the presence of an afterlife in your story will give us a chance to see Alan and Twi reunited eventually...

...That is, if Alan (Williams) Goldenhoof was really the one we saw die in the first place. *chant of "Mirror Pool! Mirror Pool! Mirror Pool!!" becomes steadily louder in the background* I know, you guys, now hush. We don't want to distract the nice author while he writes. *clears throat* Sorry, just my Committee of Favorite Characters chiming in with a conversation spoiler. :raritywink: Keep up the good work, no matter how faithful to Ozzy Ozbourne's mythology this may get. Onward to Chapter 14!
