Looking For A Little Help/Some Suggestions · 7:24pm Jan 10th, 2015
Hey Everyone,
So, this might seem a little bit random, and I'm sorry to say I can't really tell you why, but I need a bit of help.
Those of you that are reading Through Crimson Eyes know Starry Knight and Tesla Coil, and hopefully also remember (supported by the cover pic) the fact that very early on, they dyed their manes and tails red in support of Crimson's condition. One of the reasons I did that was because I didn't feel like coming up with natural colors for them. However (like I said before), for reasons I can't tell you right now, I need to determine some natural hair colors for them. I haven't always been great at determining good color pairings, and I'm also wondering if they should have patterns as opposed to just solid colors.
For those of you that are happy to help, but don't feel like going back to look, these are their colors (apologies for the red and yellow next to Starry— that's Level Dasher's tail—but hopefully you get the idea):
I figured as kids I could leave it so they're consistently dying their hair, even if it isn't spoken about. But for a later part of the story, I need them to have something else. I have a friend who's done a lot of artwork for me (by now, you probably know who), but I don't want to make her make all these suggestions and/or decisions for me if she wants to take a break, so I'm hoping that maybe some of you have some basic ideas to go with Starry and Tesla's body and eye colors other than solid red. If anyone wants to suggest that red be part of a pattern, I'm cool with that, but I don't want them to both have completely red hair.
If you'd like to test something on an art program and send me a pic, you're welcome to— I'd appreciate it. But if you just want to give a color idea that I can test myself later, I'd be just as happy to hear some suggestions.

TL;DR— I need 'real' hair colors for Starry and Tesla. Any ideas?
PS: For anyone that wants a medical update, I'm feeling quite a bit better, but still need to kind of be in my bubble. I am working on Crimson a bit (which is why I'm asking for help), but things are kind of going out of order, so I can't publish the next chapter yet. I'll also need to get a hold of my editor when he has the time.
Frankly, I don't really want to jump on the editing wagon again just yet because I want to make sure I'm feeling at my fullest when I do that, or else I might make some mistakes. But for those of you that don't care, as long as I'm not staying up until 4am like I've done in the past, I'd be happy to help as usual if I'm up to it. I do still have to let myself heal a bit, though, so it may be at least another day or two.
Tesla Coil: White, with the edges being a bright blueish purple (like when the arc hits the ground on this video
Starry Knight: Not sure. Black, or near black... maybe a deep purple.

I like topaz's suggestion for Tesla. Maybe a mauve for starry?
2713763 First off, that video was awesome. One of the reasons I chose the name Tesla Coil— they're fucking awesome.
Anyway, the concept for Tesla is a great idea, but it leaves me with something like this, and I can't change her eyes: (You can ignore the style of mane and tail and where the colors are, it was more to see the colors together)
Maybe if someone can make a version with better hues...

I dunno. Personally, the combination seems strange.

...I didn't like the purple, but the black and blue could work, even with the teal eyes...
I'd like to see what some other people think. If I get some approvals I'd be happy to use them (Tesla's mane and tail styles would likely be slightly different). I do like the idea of Starry having solid-colored hair and Tesla's being dual-colored.

2713864 does not need to match with the eyes. Try swapping the colors on Telsa's hair. With the white being the internal, and try to lighten the purple with a blueish hue and see how the result looks.
2713867 Yeah, I know they don't need to match, but it just looked odd to me (and yes, I would have swapped the color positions— it was more to just see the colors together). I think 2713852 would have better luck with the right hues. We'll figure that one out.
Honestly, Starry's isn't overly important— there are a couple options that might happen with him, but I kinda like the black and blue... it gives me an idea for later...
