The purpose of a story is that it's a story. It can be more, but it can never be less.

    Friendship is Magic: the Musical

So I've been trying to find ways out of my recent funk, and this was one of the most recent attempts. I thoroughly enjoyed the freshman season of Hazbin Hotel, particularly the outstanding musical numbers and how the whole season could, with just a few small modifications, be made into a Broadway style stage musical.

So I figured hell, why not do the same with Friendship is Magic?

    Our Last Anniversary

I've been radio silent on social media since my now ex-wife and I announced our split. A few days ago, I was moved to write this and post it on Facebook. Figured I might as well post it here as well.

    Folks say it's pretty good.

    State of the Author 2023

    It's bad.

    Real bad.

So it should come as no surprise that my wife and I are divorcing. We're having to take it slow because she's so close to the end of her degree and I want her to be in a good place to help take care of our boys. We're still co-habitating, still friends.

What's In a Name? · 8:35am Jan 7th, 2015

The choice of someone's username is one thing all of us have in common. All of us looked within ourselves at some point and chose the name by which hundreds (sometimes thousands) of people all over the world would know us by.

My question is thus; where did yours come from?

Mine;

In high school, my circle of friends lived and died by the adventures of five teen heroes on Cartoon Network. Teen Titans was our everything. We wrote fanfics, analyzed episodes... even referred to each other by our favorite character names.

My girlfriend at the time was awarded the nickname Terra. For several reasons (chief among them being my love of super-villainy and my strange affection for the forbidden romance between Slade and Terra) I campaigned for Slade to become my new moniker.

My friend Megan changed everything forever when she said, "Thomas, you're not cool enough to be Slade. You're barely cool enough to be a Sladeling."

'Sladeling' was what our circle affectionately called Slade's robotic henchman. My "terra-forming temptress' (real pet name for my girlfriend) loved it and it was decided. Since then, I've worn the Sladeling name on everything from message boards to my Youtube channel (including my series 'Sladeling in Iraq' which was filmed... in Iraq).

Long after the Titans fandom faded into the ether and the Brony fandom began to grow, I decided to start writing fanfiction again. I knew the Sladeling name had served it's purpose, so I knew I needed a new name. At the same time, I wasn't completely comfortable leaving my old name behind.

Slade= Jade
Ling= Ring

Sounds exotic, ambiguous, and not too distant from my old name. And here I am.

What's your story?

I'm a motorcyclist, and RD is one of the few ponies who would be able to ride with me...
Lightning Dust would probably end up killing herself in traffic.
Spitfire would call me insane and ride off somewhere safer.
Soarin would be either hittin on some biker chick or gettin a pie from Governor's Restaurant.
Cakebutt would crush anything smaller than a bulldozer.
You ain't gonna get Luna off the 360.
Twilight would end up making some sort of checklist.

Dash... her and I would probably end up pushing each other to our limits, striving to out-ride the other.

And with that... Biker_Dash was born!

Well, I started out in the Transformers fandom, and was in a (rather rudimentary) geography course at the time. One day, we learned about the Prime Meridian in class - Prime Meridian, Optimus Prime....
I think you can see where this is going. Since then, it's just kind of stuck - it's a pretty easy to remember name, and it makes me identifiable.

Darned if I remember exactly what I was thinking, but Yami after the split personalities from Yu-Gi-Oh! and Vizzini from The Princess Bride. It seemed cool at the time?

Yeah but Slade is kinda dumb imho. He doesn't even kill any of the Teen Titans like he does in the comics!

You're just afraid of Dusty showing you up. :trollestia:

As for the thread uh. Phurie. :twilightblush:

Um.... I like cookies...

When I originally made up my username, I was really into digimon, and I was in karate classes. So, my first username was "Geemon". "Gee" coming from what you wear in karate and "mon" coming from Digimon's love of suffixing everything with "mon".

But eventually I moved on. And I really didn't like digimon anymore. So, I thought of what I did like: Lord of the Rings and Minecraft. So, I took my old name, "Geemon", and made it more like my favorite characters name, "Gimili".

Thus, "Geemili" was born.

well...once, several years ago, long before Friendship was magic, I was but a guy about to play his first DnD game, and was just image searching for no reason. about 5 pages in, i saw a logo reading Kaijin. i never clicked it, but it stuck out to me, so i made it my Characters last name.

flash forward a few months and i was starging a sprite comic with my friends. i of cousrse, decided to use Zero as a Base sprite, and began recoloring it. I simply decided to place Kaijin in front, and the rest is history.

fun fact, Kaijin's armor was originally going to be black, til a friend pointed out that i essentially looked like Black Zero with a full faceplate, so i changed the color to silver instead.

Ain't an interesting story at all on my end, i made an OC, made a fimfic account, named it after OC. The name or atleast "Streak" "Streaky" has and is becoming my internet alias, and very slowly my nickname here and there. That's about it.

My most important drive is searching for and encouraging hope. I like Hope, it's a good thing. Even when you can't be happy, or you have failed or feel lost, you can have hope.

Well... I didn't even come up with mine... I started a fimfiction account, went to my bf "I NEED A USER NAME! I HAVE NO PONY NAME!!!"

He came up with, and pretty quickly, Swirling Line. Considering some important pieces of mine revolved around line art so I quickly like it. And that's where my pony name came from.

My name is actually the nick name that I use for my DnD games, DM stands for Dungeon Master. Sin essence I am The Crimson Dungeon Master! Crimson is the color of my players blood as they lay dying on the dungeon floor. XD

Damnit Jade. One day I'll leave a short comment to these blog posts. Okie Dokie. *cracks knuckles*...Ow damn....

So at some point in the early 2000's I was introduced to THE INTERNET *fanfare*. It was mostly pressure from my only friend at the time that caused me to hop on the computer and boot up that old CRT monitor. The first website I was familiar with was Neopets, which a site full of games and fun if I remember correctly. Long story short, on Neopets you get a pet and each pet has like a webpage. Now on these webpages, Neopets just gives you the HTML code and says "DO SUMTHING!" Now, some very creative people would do something called "Screenies." These were very primitive forms of what would now be a Tumblr Ask Blog. Someone would take a screenshot of a message, forum post, webpage. They would then take this screenshot and doodle on it, posting it to their webpages through HTML magic. I've always been kinda creative but I've also been like a smudged mirror. I liked to take something that I thought was cool and made an inferior copy of it. Like a mirror....that shows a crappy reflection....'cause it's.....smudged....These are the metaphors, people. Anywhooves, I saw one with a Pikachu as it's character and was all like "Well, Gee Willikers, I can do that!" So I did just that. His name was Sparky and god DAMN if I wasn't proud of him.

After a while I made better friends and we started Role Playing in PE class. Not physically mind you, otherwise we would have probably participated in PE class. Instead we spun collaborative stories using our individual characters. I had Sparky, he became my OC. I gave him this huge backstory and made up a whole slew of characters to act alongside of him. He was very Mary Sue if my memory serves. With the new backstory came a new name, Sparky P. Chu. It was a play on the name Pichu, who is the first in the Pikachu evolution chain....I was SO damn clever.

A day came where I abandoned Neopets and moved to YouTube. I needed to find a new username. So me, being the clever little shit I was, combined the names of two characters (Sparky and Elie) to form Sparkyelie. I made many shitty YouTube videos. Eventually, I wanted another YouTube channel for some reason (I have long forgotten why. Perhaps because my videos were shite). So I decided to use Sparkypchu as it was Sparky's full name.

That's where the story technically ends but, if you're curious, Sparky didn't last much longer. About halfway-ish through my Sophomore year of high school I began to see Sparky as a symbol of my younger self's ridiculousness. I felt the need to move on. So I threw away every scrap of paper that I had drawn that Pikachu on. Casting my past as far away from me as the garbage truck could take it. But there was one thing I couldn't throw away. My Username. At that point I had made many many accounts all over the place and made many friends. All the while using the name Sparkypchu. Hell, even my email contained a variant of Sparkyelie. So I had to live with that mistake from my past and be Sparkypchu. So I kept using Sparkypchu for most things I made an account for. Including, wait for it, FiM Fiction! So now, I am Sparky P. Chu. I am my past. As we all are. Our usernames representing a past self, a past line of thought.

I need to go lay down. I went deep into my memories there and became slight philosophical.

FF7 is the greatest game of all time imo. And I guess the part of it that really stuck to me was Clouds story and path throughout the game. He fights for money and revenge at the start but though love, tragedy, loss, and redemption through one of the most epic stories I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. He saves the world and everyone's happy, but he doesn't really belong anymore, and that's okay with him. He saw the worst the world had to offer and he still saved it...

Seemed an easy enough choice. The paths we walk are as important as who we are at the end.

I've had different usernames over the years, but I'll just tell you the story of this one:

Before I joined this site I was a member of a MLP forum site. My name on there was Ruby since I was thinking of the ruby in the episode, "Secret of My Excess." I met someone who wanted to do a story collab, but I had to get an account here. I couldn't just use Ruby so I had to think of something. I dunno how I came up with cast, but I chose it and think of someone casting a fishing pole.

My skype friends call me Ring (since I suck at picking names) and I picked that name by thinking of Bakura from Yugioh (the good and original one).
