Happy New Year! (And chapter #3 of Dark Horse is up!) · 7:50pm Jan 2nd, 2015

A bit later, but I wanted that update to go up together with this blog.

Find it here!

Hope you all had a nice, happy and safe New Year's!

Speaking of Dark Horse, this update brings it over the dread 30 K limit for Five Score stories, so I'll probebly publish it tommor.

Still, to keep the christmas gift thing going, I intend to keep coming chapters unpublished for a day or so; so all my followers gets first look.

That's a good compromise, right?

Still, happy new year, and happy reading! :yay:

Now I know that you do all these days. Happy New Year and easy hangovers. :raritywink:

30k word score? I never got what the series really was about. So could you explain what you mean?

You know how this site tends to get 'flavors of the day' stories every once in a while? Like 'peach' stories, LoHAV stories, and so on?

Well, Five Score Divided By Four was one of them that spawned a whole bunch of spin-offs and imitators.

The short spoiler free version: A bunch of twenty-five year olds blank on the day they have that birthday, and somehow end up with cutie marks on their hips. Slowly changing into ponies, they try to figure out just what has happened, and what to do.

And sadly, there was a whole load of really, really bad imitators. The whole turning into specific ponies thing was just a bad fiction self-insert fiction magnet, and for a bit the mods were all but drowning in Five Score stories.

Thus, the 30 K words or finished limit on FIve Score stories.

It kinda killed that group, truth be told, but I get why the mods did what they did.

Still, I'd recommend the original at least, even if I had a few griefs with it. It didn't quite stick the landing (IMO), but the start and middle were excellent.

2696555 Thank you. I had some idea to the story, but not to why the mods kicked down on things. Thats what I wondered on, but glad to see a reason to it all.

No problem.

Personally I think the rule is quite a bit archaic by now since the fad has died, but I get why that specific rule got implemented when it was.

For a week or two you could barely refresh the site without seeing a new Five Score story in the feed, and that was the ones good enough to pass moderation.

Rather tellingly, quite a few of those never got more than a chapter or two, and a rather depressing number of them are totally gone now. Deleted by the authors..

Here is hoping it gets the recognition it deserves. I'm kind of curious about that since it seems that One Pony's Curse doesn't appear in the "other works by the author" tab when I read your other stories. I have to manually go to your author page to see it listed.

He has his own serious take on it too. It is good.

Its because there is a max limit to the number of stories shown, and the fact that it is technically the lowest rated story he has, even though I love it to bits.
