I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow, but...
My 2DS just came!
A huge thank-you to Zef (yes, that Zef) for this!
I haven't done all the little fiddly stuff yet--so far I've just set it up, run a system update, and linked Club Nintendo/registered it. I'll be doing more with it later. I also don't have any 3DS games yet--I've got some old DS games to play on it, though somehow I've not found my copy of Advance Wars Dual Strike (
) but it's here SOMEWHERE...

Awesome!! I mostly only play Pokemon X on my 3DS. Once I get Super Smash Bros. and Omega Ruby, I'll be playing those a lot, too!
2ds? Guess you don't like the 3d? Personally, I'm waiting till the *new* 3DS xl comes out before I buy anything related to this ds line. I kinda stopped after the original ds. You know, the big, bulky silver ones? With the gameboy slots? Those were the days. I still have my gb advanced too.

Get Pokemon,FES:Awakening,Persona Q,Bravely Default,Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call, and don't buy Super Smash Brothers if have the intention of still having a functional system.

I hope I don't come off as rude, but I actually find that fascinating. I had no idea the technology in the 3ds' graphics even required depth perception to give the feeling of 3d-ness, I hear the feeling of the 3d is already nauseating enough. It makes the business move to create the 2ds much more sense.
2616813 Personally I don't like the 3D because it gives me a headache but the existence of the 2DS signifies Nintendo's admittance to the fact that 3D isn't what it's crack up to be (they were late to this fad) and you will never see them do something exclusively cool with the 3D because the game also has to be functional on the 2DS which lacks such function.

I also didn't know whether or not they'd make an exclusive game for it, and your logic seems irrefutable enough that I can no longer worry that they might—if I go for whatever new 2ds they come up with in the future instead of the 3ds.
It's actually kinda of funny, the main reason why I'm saving up for the 3ds isn't for the 3d, but because it's actually foldable.

2616809 I've heard of the infamous C-pad breakage problem. I honestly think that's just people getting too vigorous.
2616813 The illusion of 3D is stereoscopic. Always has been. I'm not 100% sure how the 3DS handles it since it doesn't use glasses, but the 3DS specs say 400 pixels are used for each eye to create the stereoscopic effect.
In any case, I've never cared for the 3D gimmick. It's pointless and it always has been pointless and the fact that it's still permeating the way it is...it just makes no sense.
2616845 Oh no believe me I gave my release day model 3DS to my nephew when I got my 3DS XL and even while aware of the broken joy pads and being very careful he still manage to damage his system on the first day he played the SSB demo so I say there is truth to those claims.
2616857 I'm not gonna say it doesn't happen, but I haven't had any problems with the demo. I also have an old 3DS, I've had mine almost 3 years, I think. I don't know if this happens to 3DSs, 3DS XLs, or both.
Planning on getting a New Nintendo 3DS (not XL) when it gets to Europe. Want to prepare for new games. But my 3DS (not XL) has been with me sins the system got to Europe. And I sure wish I had a 2DS to pay respect to my old GameBoy.
Hm, hope GAME will have a copy of Alpha Sapphire left when I go there on Saturday, wont get back in time for the Friday release.
