I felt like saying something about ponies and socks, and why they seem to have a certain reputation for being sexy.
So why would ponies wear socks at all? It's not hard to imagine that hooves would be quite unkind to sheets, especially if they're chipped and they snag on the material. Rather than damaging the sheets or even the blankets, covering the hooves before climbing into bed may have become common practice. This evolved from simple pieces of cloth tied over the hooves, to proper socks that fitted more snugly and yet were easier to to put on and take off. So socks would obviously become associated with beds. Inevitably the socks would evolve further from being rather plain, to colorful and patterned things designed to please the eyes. Of course, the eyes that were intended to be pleased more often became those of the pony sharing the bed with the wearer, and we all know what is uppermost on ponies' minds under those circumstances. Therefore socks evolved from a practical invention to sexily suggestive night apparel.

Also the hooves of MLP ponies are soft and squishy like marshmallows, so socks really feel soft and snuggly on them.
I've never thought of socks and ponies that way, new head-canon unlocked!
That makes a lot of sense. Also consider that socks hide from view most of the legs and thus make even more tantalizing what they do not hide. This is the same reason why long socks are considered sexy on Human girls.

One big difference is that Humans normally wear clothes over the genitals -- this is true even for primitive H-G cultures. Ponies don't. They use their tails and posture for modesty, and aren't very bothered by innocent flashing.
