Oh boy... this chapter...
I'm already 4,000 words in and I don't feel I've reached the halfway mark. There's so much of Lord Barleycorn being himself that I don't know how much longer it will go. It's a personal matter with me that chapters shouldn't go past the 8K mark, since anything beyond that and the reader will have take a huge chunk of their freetime to read (and more for those stories that commonly have chapters over 27K... looking at you The Conversion Bureau: The Other Side of the Spectrum... =/ ).
Yeah, lots of LBC in this chapter and lots more of him interacting with foals. I've had to do a lot of research for this chapter, both acquainting myself with my own continuity and checking out music, and coming up with a few bits that might be a little too corny. I'm doing my best to try and balance LBC's time with the other ponies in the town being there. Even Cherry Nova's there, and there's more subtle hints to his past as well.
And there's so much more to write. x_x
I've just come back up for air to let you all know that I'm still alive and putting my all into this chapter.
Tomorrow I have to DM my D&D group, and the day after I have my writing guild meeting... I don't know how but I managed to get SOMETHING written for the monthly 750 word challenge. Busy busy busy...

See, I read that and I can't help but really, really look forward to seeing it. I feel like this chapter's been built up so much that it needs to stand out a bit more.

My character (even as a DM I have a PC character for when I don't DM) is a chaotic neutral Human Chaos Mage.

2487980 40k and DnD 3.0-pathfinder. I have more fun as a PC but our other DM can't really weave any sort of connected story. He also hated me since my characters are min maxed game breakers and I own a ton of splat books.
... and now I have to commit myself to a day in the room of screaming yaks for making that pun, however unintentional.

2488824 Yeah, but I'd rather have a player like that over our problem PC. But as a PC, I've grown out of that min-maxer phase. It's just something you have to get out of yours system, I think. It could also have a thing to do with me being a writer and want to play a character rather than an optimized build. Its also why I banned the point buy system at the pathfinder table.
