Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining.

You probably know how this sort of thing goes. There you are, mowing your grass on a day that can't decide whether to shine or drizzle on you, a few years and counting into your non-writing streak. Whatever thoughts you're having are at the expense of your lawnmower picking a fight with every passing tuffet and losing.

    Tyomnaya strana

Just as alicorns descend upon parched wastelands bearing storms and seeds, so too do kindly translators upon my horsewords. Dark Country's received a Russian translation by the kind efforts of

    Stellarum voces

A jolly update for folk who like either fanfic readings or The Motion of the Stars, and a downright rapturous one for folk who like both. My name is R has brought their vocal talent to bear on the story, complete with images and background music to help

    On Brains

A nice breezy dialogue to ease in with:

CARABAS’ COMMON SENSE: So, a hypothetical conservation for you.
CARABAS: Two lines in and we’ve already got fictional discourse nested in the initial fictional discourse. Gosh, I must just love to live dangerously.

The last page of Crusade at Midnight Castle's hit the printers. That was ... an experience, certainly. That's a fair description as any.

Don't forget to check out monokeras and CCC's own co-stories as well, linked to in the description. They deserve as much blame as I do for the whole thing, and their own tales are developing very nicely.

The Devil's Details should be picked up again in short order. Stay tuned for that, if that was already to your tastes. If you're a new follower from the Outside Insight competition, salutations! Make yourselves known in the comments for civilised blethering. Consider glancing at The Devil's Details as well. It's my child years in the making, and shares the same worldbuilding as Moonlight Palaver.

It took me a minute to figure out who you were and why I was getting this post in my feed! :trollestia:

But then I remembered. But yeah, I'll definitely be checking out this story whenever it comes out.

Edit: Oh! It's already out, and you're speaking of returning to it. Gothcah! Well then, it is now upon my read later list.

'Tis already out, albeit gathering dust. :twilightoops: Over sixty-four thousand words and set to escalate far beyond that.

The proper response to that, whether you're a writer or a reader, is alcohol. And plenty of it.

Ay. I know the feeling. I'm writing a Batman crossover, and it was originally just going to be a quick little "Wouldn't-it-be-awesome-if-this-happened!?" story. But then I started planning it out, and then writing rough drafts of all the chapters, and it went way beyond the scope of what I had intended. By the time I'm done with it, it'll probably be anywhere between 120-150k words. :applejackconfused:

I've never written anything before, fiction-wise, and I've found it to be utterly amazing just how much these things take on a life of their own. The problem is that I'm a really slow writer! :raritycry:

But I wish you the best of luck in bringing your child to life.

Your pain is mirrored on this front. 120-150 thousand words is a heck of an undertaking; my own largest finished story (posted elsewhere) comes to just over a hundred thousand. They have a habit of just exploding on you out from what seems like a simple prompt.

Cheers for the best wishes. It's currently in the angry toddler stages of storyhood, and the earlier chapters are probably due another rewrite, or at least a substantial combing-over. Starting them two years ago before one's current writing calibre will do that. Best of luck with your own piece as well!

Why hello there, I'm new and it's nice to meet you.

Salutations to you both! State whatever occurs about yourself (nationality, current music preferences, innermost hopes and desires, whichever) for the benefit of the peanut gallery.

I'll get the ball rolling there; I'm Scottish, currently listening to this at 1.25 speed, and aspire to become an acclaimed best-selling writer floating atop slightly more filthy lucre than actually exists in the world.

Good day to you also! Your OC portraits are pretty cool.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir. Your reputation precedes you, and your screams as you encounter the Feature Box each time can be heard across oceans.

2454085 Well I'm a New Zealander living in the wonderful land of Australia. (They made me say that)

I'm a prolific gamer clocking up hundreds of hours in a variety of games. I one day hope to write something that others want to read. I think having friends is one of the best things in the world and I'm a very social person. I struggle with dysgraphia and internal motivation.

2454094
Hang in there. Once we're independent, we'll sail the nation across the seas and liberate you from cruel Australian tyranny!

I commend your gaming habits! I've not been able to do as much as I'd like recently, on account of mounting uni work and other things competing for my spare time. :raritydespair: What sort of stuff do you play?

2454103 Mainly team based games, I've been on a bit of a CS:GO binge recently but I'll enjoy almost any game if it looks good and can keep me entertained, bonus points if I can play with friends.

What are you studying at the moment?

2454107
Ah, I'm more of a single-player person myself. Strategy and RPGs are my lifeblood - especially Paradox and Bioware games when they emerge.

Studying psychology at Dundee University currently. Going into my fourth and final year of being an undergraduate. What are you doing yourself?

2454145 Year 10, I'm a bit of a youngin myself. Well I'm going to go to bed now but it has been interesting talking to you. If you ever want to talk again I can send you my Skype and if you ever do feel like some cooperative gaming I can tell you my Steam name.

Chat anon! I'm personally offline most of the time on both of these things, but I wouldn't object.

Listen to this man, everyone. He has a joint degree in omniversal expertise and literary criticism from the University of Smart-arse, and was conceived by the union of Mother Theresa and Albert Einstein. You can trust his judgement about things, and you're welcome for the Mother Theresa mental image.
