I've seen that happen a couple of times. Never could figure out if somepony had actually had a change of heart or just got permanently deleted and every trace of him removed, although writers with more expertise than I tell me it's more likely to be the former.
(For the record, I upvoted Sleepless, and I stand by that thumb.)
