The Wizard of Words

Come what may and test what will, I always find peace in some form of writing. Be it famous, hidden, or simply my own, it is and forever will be a sanctuary.

    My Watcher Count broke 1100...

Well... gotta say that with my usual inactivity on this site now it is kinda surprising. Not saying I've given up writing or anything, just haven't been nearly proactive in making up new stories/chapters as I would have been half a year ago. But hey, I guess what I already made up is just that exciting. That always feels nice.

    Wizard, Where'd You Go?

Okay, not a big update, not a major explanation, nothing catastrophic happening. Promise.

Mainly, I'm just very busy. I have three jobs, working on a thesis project for my Biomedical Engineering Masters, writing five stories at once right now, and working on a joint project with another writer on this site (that will come up later).

Which Story Sounds Best To You?

While I know many people may be sick of the fan requests at this point, it's less of how a story will develop and more of what one I should pursue first. Because honestly, I have outlines for all of them, artwork for all of them, and will probably write all of them at some point in time. The whole purpose of this short hiatus is to write something DIFFERENT, but there are so many different kinds

Watcher Poll Time: What Should I Focus on Writing · 3:50am Sep 8th, 2014

It has come to my attention that I am focusing on not only too many stories, but the wrong kind of stories. Majority of my watchers, you my devoted readers, joined me because you gained an interest in me for various reasons. Most of you I assume did so because you enjoyed my writing of ship fics and Twidash, specifically. Others, perhaps, enjoyed my sadder tales, and wanted to get more of those, but doubted if any of you are reading my stories for my adventure stories like Pangur Ban or One Last Game.

A few of my friends have pointed out to me that I have gained near no followers from those stories and have in fact alienated a good deal of my actual fans because of it, leading them to stop reading my other stories. I can only assume at this point that they are right. So, to fix this, I have a plan.

I'm going to stop writing Pangur Ban and One Last Game, put them on Indefinite Hiatus, or just out right delete them. They've garnered a lot more ire than praise, and have had a lot of people pretty mad at me for focusing on them over stories like For Sonnets and Harmony or another good Twidash book.

If you think this is a good idea, let me know. Just cheer loud enough and you'll be able to scream those pieces of crap into oblivion. If you, for some reason, want them to stay, say so and... I don't know, maybe I'll slap myself a few times to realign my brain cells.

Point is, I know those stories suck and I think the amount of suck is just starting to become more of a chore to me, my editors, my readers, and even the bandwidth of this site. Basically, everyone is losing. With them gone, everyone wins.

I think you should focus you writing what you like to write. Every one of us followed you for a different reason, and will like different things. If you try to write for what your followers want, you're going to alienate the ones that lose the vote, or kill yourself trying to write everything all at once.
Personally, I'm content to wait for whenever you want to write the things I like. It'll undoubtedly be better that way than if I were to say something like "WRITE MOAR X RITE NAO."

I went to watching you to the story For Sonnets and Harmony. But deleting the stories, nah, you can always revisit them later, and spruce up what you think is off. But I hope you find what it is that you want to write the most out of this. And well, deleting just seems wrong to any story.

I'd prefer you to work of sonnets of harmony, but really do whatever you want man.

Except delete novel length fanfiction *slaps*
bad. :ajbemused: BAD wizard of words. Leave it to rot forever and ever.

As much as I'd like yo see how OLG turns out, work on whatever you think is best.

Never delete. NEVER.

woah woah woah! I came to you for Panguar Ban,(other story's as well to tell the truth) and while the others will want you to focus on other story's (that's fine by me I don't care) don't delete it, please, because I really enjoy that story. Put it on hiatus if you want but let it stay so I can go and read one of my all time favorite stories. :fluttercry:

I'll support which ever choice you make, but I would like to tell you two things.

1: I'll gladly wait for as long as it takes, for chapter updates.

2: PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T DELETE YOUR STORIES! I'm fine with them being on Hiatus, but please Don't delete them! They're awesome and too good to delete.

IMHO, For Sonnets and Harmony is the one I'm most into. Pangur Ban and OLG are good, but at the cost of other, better stories, I'm kinda 'eh'.
It seems like Pangur Ban is almost done though. If there are only 2-3 remaining chapters, I'd just go ahead and complete it. Otherwise, use your best judgement.

To be clear though, I'm very fond of your other stories that you posted before these big ones. The short ones, the shipping ones, the abstract ones, you know what I'm referring to. A big mixed bag, I think, yields more success.

Of course, whatever you most prefer takes precedence. It's not like you exist to serve the readers. The point is for it to be an enjoyable experience on all sides of the story.

(Oh yeah. Also, it seems like the TwiDash challenge is almost done. That wouldn't be a bad thing to shoot for, since it's pretty much completely made up of successful stories. Not a bad collection if I say so myself.)

If you want to place your stories on hiatus, that is acceptable. However, do not, and I emphasize, DO NOT delete your stories. Your stories are all awesome, whether adventure, shipping, or whatever.

You can just prioritize and return to other stories later. Seriously, your stories are great and I always enjoy reading them.

Of course, that's just my recommendation. You are free to do as you so fit. I really do enjoy Pangur Ban though. It'd be saddening to me if you deleted it...

:ajsleepy::fluttershyouch::pinkiesick::rainbowhuh::raritydespair::facehoof:

I never read One Last Game because I have an aversion to Crossover Fanfics. Also, Discord headcanons can get weird, so a Massively Multiplayer Crossover Discord-Fic is something I find unappealing, and I'm just unfamiliar with the material Pangur Ban is based on and I don't want to either spoil it or get confused.

Also, dude; 1001 followers. Some sour apples leaving isn't much more than a drop in a bucket. As for being harassed, that's a tougher call. Can't be worse than the stuff I've gotten on some of my stories. I know its trite advice, but: don't let the haters dictate your behaviour.

I don't know if those stories are any good, and maybe it may be best to pass them up, but only do it if you think the story is actually BAD, not if someone whined that needsmoarTwidash.

If you want to write those stories - write them.

That's all.

Too be honest, One Last Story is probably the only reason I visit this site, so please don't delete it. :fluttershysad:

And what do you mean the stories have gathered more ire than praise, from who exactly?

I like panguar ban's worldbuilding a bit, though pretty blah at the turn it took . And I really just couldn't get into one last game... but I would feel sad if any stories got deleted honestly since there are probably those that like them. But I would be really excited to see you working on other stories again more, since I find a lot of your other stories much more riveting.

While I followed you for the Twidash way back when you first posted the likes of Study of Dual Female Reproduction and Breaking the Norm, I definitely don't expect just TwiDash. Anyone who follows you expecting nothing but that Clearly shouldn't in the first place. It's your freedom to write what you want.

If you didn't, and stuck to that one concept, eventually things would get stale and you'd cease to grow as a writer. Work on what you like, but never delete a story that you spent so much time working on.

I'd say write what YOU like to write. The last thing we want is for you to get burned out because you write only a couple types of story. I'd also argue that not getting an increased number of followers is not a good judge of how well your stories are doing. Focus on feedback and try to improve the story, don't just dismiss it because it's not everyone's cup of tea.

the story i followed you for has been deleted so...meh:applejackunsure:

One Last Game has, so far tied for first with About Last Night..., been my favorite fimfic from you. I haven't read the second half of the former, but I will. Please don't take it down. :fluttercry: I've been reading your :twilightblush::ajsmug: stories in numerical order, and haven't gotten to Pangur Ban. It should be interesting, and I am looking forward to reading that one as well.

By the way, About Last Night... earned you a follower from the reading that guy did of it. Hope he uploads more of them.
