News and Update - The situation and the future. · 6:43am Sep 7th, 2014
Sometimes you just want to create something.
Something that maybe you want to share with others.
Others who might appreciate what you have struggled to make a reality.
Reality, though, can sometimes become an obstacle.
An obstacle that stands in the way of your dream.
It's a sad truth though. that sometimes life gets in the way.
No matter how much you want it, or how hard you try,
there are times when you have no choice but to admit defeat,
because you just can't find the time, or you don't have the energy anymore
Maybe it's school, maybe it's work,
things you can't shirk just to write fiction,
even if others have enjoyed your work.
It's hard to say farewell, especially knowing that you couldn't finish what you started,
and that you left a lot of disappointed people behind,
though there might come a day when you return,
until then, your work lies unfinished.
It's sad, yes, but life must come first.
so the day eventually comes,
when you have to say goodbye.
But it is not this day.
Had you going there, didn't I?
I'm not going anywhere!
Okay! Okay! I'm sorry! Don't hit me!
I promise, I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever joke about that again!
Phew...
There are a few things I need to talk about though, including some bad news, but also some good ones too!
First off, I am terribly sorry for the long wait, but luck has not been on my side lately. A heatwave that filled every day with unbearably and inescapable humid heat, an infection in my left eye. followed by an infection in my right eye, work, migraines, and constantly bouncing between not being able to sleep to sleeping through almost the entire day while feeling like I'm about the get sick for weeks without ever actually getting sick has not left me with much energy for writing.
The good news is that Chapter 5 of No More Nightmares will be released sometime around Sunday night! I've just finished typing in around 7000-8000 words into the chapter, just a little bit more and then to go over it to see if there are any errors to fix or last minute changes that needs to be made.
Until then, here are some excerpts to tease you. They will be covered by spoiler tags in case you don't want to read it, but they will be slightly edited so they don't spoil too much, just to wet your appetite.
"Please, as not just your nurse but as a friend, I'm worried about-"
"You are not my friend!"
"You little fucking pukes!" I growl, taking a step towards them. They both quickly back up, their wings quivering and their tails between their legs, terrified expressions plastered on their dumb faces. "What. Did. You. Say!?"
Her face is contorted in pain and is a darker shade than usual. Her mouth hanging wide open, making short, desperate gasps. She is standing on her hind legs, her fore hooves wrapped around my arm.
My hand is around her throat.
A terrible cold crawls up my spine, making every hair on my body stand on end. My pulse quickens and I find myself holding my breath.
Something is watching me...
Now for the bad news. I seem to have been struck by one of the worst maladies a writer can suffer, writers block!
It's not all bad, I've said before that I know how the story ends, heck, I know what will happen in the last three or four chapters. However, as I've been writing from the beginning, while at the same time planning backwards from the end, I seem to have forgotten about the middle part... Whoops.
It think I know enough to make at least one more chapter before it becomes a problem, but after that... Then it might take a while...
The problem might be the fact that this story has grown from what I had initially envisioned it to be. I wrote in my first chapter how it had originally been planned as a one-shot before I started expanding it... Well, at first I thought maybe about five chapters would be enough, but then the chapters started becoming longer and I started to fully realize how much bigger it had become in order to try and include everything that I had planned, so I decided to simply just keep writing and we'll see how many chapters I end up with... To bad I didn't think of how to connected the now much longer beginning and ending... My bad...
Well, I'm not completely stupid, I know a few things that I want to include, and technically I could easily bypass some stuff and tie it all together, but that would mean skipping a lot of things, and I don't want that.
I'll think of something, eventually.
I really don't want to just leave you all hanging though while I'm trying to figure this out. I've been trying to think of something to fill up the time between chapters.
I have a few ideas for other stories, but they are just general concepts right now, not enough material to write something out of yet. Besides, I've kinda promised myself to not start any other projects until I've finished No More Nightmares.
I could try doing more blogs, but I'm not one for small talk so I don't know if I'll be able to find new topics to talk about fast enough to make this a regular thing...
I thought about a Q&A... Is that something people do on this site? I'm still very new to this... Not sure what you would want to ask me about anyway, if anything...
Bah, I'm tired and I'm babbling, I should have been in bed hours ago.
Something more important to talk about: No More Nightmares has recently passed 100 likes!
You guys don't understand how much this means to me. Writing is one of those things I've always wanted to do, and I am so grateful for the chance to live out that fantasy, even if it's just for a while. So thank you, each and every one of you.
Now, I should really go and get some sleep so I can finish Chapter 5 in time.
