This is a story that Lucky Dreams wrote for the Most Dangerous Game competition, a contest in which entrants had to pick from a list of horribly overused tropes (alicorn OCs, seventh Elements, etc) and still tell a good story. This one is about Mia, a young (human) girl who dreams of running with wild horses. It's also written as a children's story, something startlingly rare considering what our fandom is actually based on.
It is magnificent. Not without flaws, but it's one of those stories where the flaws only make it seem more, well, human. It feels like nothing so much as an entry from a 1970s/80s Puffin book of short stories. Rather old-fashionedly English in tone and style, but comforting because of it. Curiously, the section involving MLP the most may actually be the weakest. Nevertheless, barely 1,000 views is insufficient. Go and add to them. Now.
That's deeply impressive! I didn't really experience the tone of it as being particularly English, but that may well be because most of the literature I read as a child was English (and old-fashioned as well, come to that.) Thanks for pointing it out. I'd hate to have missed that!
And most of its views came from the competition. Again, goes to prove that quality does not always equal popularity, especially where fanfiction is concerned!
