'Love Needs No Reason' and reason why it's noticed. · 10:30pm Jul 13th, 2014
Hello and welcome my faithful viewers. First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my story(ies). I appreciate it very much so. (Comments especially.)
Now, I've been meaning to ask. When I originally wrote 'Love Needs No Reason' I thought it was going to be glanced over, but I wrote it anyway because it was fun. Something to tie me over during breaks in between my other story, 'A Different Sunset'. (Which I'd appreciate it if you'd check that out as well. Leave a comment.) Low and behold, 'Love Needs No reason' gets hundreds of favorites and nearly three hundred likes.
I'm flabbergasted! I'd always wanted to make a hit, but this came out of nowhere. So, I have to ask.
What was it about this story that drew your attention and what's keeping you guys reading? Is it the humor, pairing, scenarios...?
Just a quick question off the top of my head.
The odd pairing that you chose to write about
For me this story quickly became one of my favorites because I love applejack, and you write her very well. your story fits very nicely in with the strong willed diving board that is applejack. She is the strait man and by proxy the one who allows everyone around her to go off the deep end.
Pairing her with discord is brilliant in the 'damn i wish i had thought about that' kind of way. add to that the fact that the story is well told and you have me hooked.
I like discord and I see him paired up with Applejack every now and again and it usually turns out pretty good. Plus, the characterization of Discord is pretty spot on. Throw in a ship happy Cadence and you have my attention.
Well, mostly pairing. I love stories with Applejack (she's my fav pony) and Discord is one of the most interesting characters in the cartoon. There're not too many interactions between the two of them, which is a shame. They're different, but with a good plot - they make an interesting pairing. Also, comedy. You're very good in writing comedy scenes. Not to mention that your characters aren't OOC. I honestly can see Applejack reacting this way to Discord's advances. And I like your Discord. He's a prankster, as always, but he also has that more sensitive side, which intrigues me.
I have never before seen DiscordXApplejack. It caught my eye.
Cadance. Totally Cadance.
I cannot buy Discord/Applejack in the slightest, considering that they have nothing whatsoever in common, are almost literal opposites, and hardly ever interact in the show. But having Cadance involved, trying to help make this happen, is utterly freaking hilarious. I like Cadance as a character when she's written either as a badass or as funny, and this is very very funny.
Cadance is awesome! The funny asides, her dedication to shipping, all awesome. I hope Chrysalis shows up in future chapters, even if only for a bit part, because it sounds like they have the most hilarious relationship. Also, I kind of want to find out more about Applejack here. The fear she has that Discord will trick her into falling in love with her and then break her heart? I want to find out why she's so worried about that.
2282783 Chrysalis isn't going to show up in this story, but don't fret. I have a couple of other ideas that'll come up.
1: I might plan on doing something of a side set of short stories based off of Cadance's comments.
2: Chrysalis will most definitely appear in this fic's sequel.

2282798 Well, I thought I already kind of made it clear. She's never been in love and Discord is a trickster god...But oh most indubitably, I will delve into this much deeper.
Our little hayseed is going to be doing quite a bit of thinking in the future about the god of chaos.
