Looking for in-character CMC fic to study

I'm having a much harder time writing the CMCs than the Mane Six in Chitin, and I think I've figured out why. I'm not just relying on how the Mane Six are written in canon, I'm combining various fanonical interpretations of them, applying different ideas on how they would act in abnormal situations. The CMCs . . . well, not a lot of fic does much to establish that the CMCs aren't just different heads of the same hydra. (The only fic I can think of offhand that really goes into the differences between them is Three Wishes by Xepher, and I'm not entirely sold on how it portrayed Sweetie Belle in particular.) What fics do you recommend to study their differing personalities and behaviors?

Hmm, none really come to mind at the moment. I mean, sure I've written a fic which has them in an abnormal situation, but I'm not confident in my ability to write them in-character enough to recommend it to you.

Try some of the groups dedicated to them as individuals or as the CMC. I'm sure you'll find something useful in one of them.

Then there's Flash Fog, which does a fine job of all characters, including the CMC, but doesn't focus on them. Also, it's rather long.

I recommend focusing on stories that look at individual Crusaders. When the three get together, they tend to play off of one another and form a stupidity greater than the sum of its parts. Each on her own, however, has to carry the story on her own merits, which means that the author has to figure out what those are.
