This chapter is driving me absolutely crazy

I know I said that the next chapter was almost done, but after stepping away for a bit to deal with IRL stuff and then coming back, I found that I didn’t like where the story was going. So I scrapped a good 1k of it or so, maybe 2k, and re did it. Then I did so again, and again, and again, and again, and so on. Happened with long stretches of paragraphs and short sentences alike. No words were

Proof that I'm alive and working!

Hey guys, sorry it's taking so long to get the next chapter out. I won't bore you with IRL issues because everyone has them, but rather the reason is that I've had to rewrite and restart this thing multiple times. I want the best for you guys and I want this jenga-sudoku-crossword clusterfuck to stay stable and sane. I am slowly hacking away at it; getting short bursts of words out at a time

    Getting off my lazy ass

Alright, new story is pending approval as I write this and I’m going to have some free time after my test in a couple hours. Figure now is as good a time as any to get back to work. That being said, I have a lot of unpublished and unfinished stuff and it’s hard to choose between them to finish. So like I said before, I’m going to do a strawpoll on some of the ones I feel like working on

Why I haven't done jack shit in forever.

I swear to you that I actually have a story that's mostly ready for publishing (2 chapters mostly done with one left to go). Shakespearicles can testify for me. As for why I haven't published it on Mother's day like I had promised myself.... let's just say I kinda got into a train-plane-ship-car wreck that fell from orbit onto my unsuspecting ass. (That's half true as many of the

    Post-April Fool's Serious Update

For those of you who didn't get yesterday's joke, don't worry because I'm not going to change up HLW again. It was hard enough the first time. That being said, I feel like I owe you all some information on my current progress. Last few weeks was an absolute dildo to my writing progress (My "spring break" wasn't much of a break and I just got done with 4 tests over the past two weeks). The Ember

MSB Topic vote blog · 9:25pm May 1st, 2014

Alrighty guys, been doing a bit of research into the topics from the original shows. I've categorized them into five groups below. After each episode, You guys will vote in the comments here or on the chapter on a topic in that category. For the sake of keeping it simple, I'm only going to do topics the show has already covered.

Now, the next Field Trip category will be (in bold):

Nature (systems)
Biology (indiviuals)
Physics
Chemistry
Other

Get to voting!

I would vote biology, simply to see how the Magic of the Bus would interact with magical physiology (seriously, imagine if the Bus drove through a patch of Poison Joke), but...why is it in bold?

Drat. I suppose I can't request ponykind's various magical organ systems.

Let's go with cells then. I can cross my fingers for midi-chlorians magical organelles.

2067885 It's in bold because that's the category i'm working in. The bold will change between field trips.

I say nature! I still have the idea of a bus being a better flyer than Scootaloo:trollestia:

Yes, I'm voting that purely for that reason:scootangel:

2068171 no, im doing biology, so vote in that category (i.e. digestive, microbes, etc) use link for help

2068251 Dang, if that's the case then I ask for the topic on bones and muscles. Which is also a potential Scoots episode:pinkiecrazy:

Have them go inside Cherilee, and observe firsthand the magic of the immune system!

Take a good ol' trip through Discord to see what makes him tick. :trollestia:

Physics will be fun! We would just need Pinkie as Miss Frizzle's assistant since she's so good at breaking them anyway. :pinkiehappy:

With Cherilee being sick, you have already set up the prefect, first field trip. The immune system.

I think a ride through the Cardiovascular and Lymphatic Systems would be great...and as part of it they run into Cheerilee's Immune System:pinkiehappy:

Ooh, can you do the bat episode? I loved it to absolute death as a kid!

Go inside Discord, Hilarity ensues.

Water cycle via pegasi?

2068984 Discord doesn't tick, though. He phawitzles.

Only doing topics the show has already covered? Aw, that's no fun, though I suppose doing enough research to make a field trip on an entirely new subject would be difficult, but you'll have to do that anyways in order for one on an already covered subject to not be a total retread better served by watching the original episode... or, in some cases, to avoid repeating out of date or disproven info.

That said, you've clearly set us up for an immune system episode, considering Cheerilee's predicament. I'd vote for multiple chapters per arc; gives you more chance to correct errors, especially factual ones, before you get too far out in the plot to deal with them.

2144318 I'm still going to be watching the original episodes for their info (and level. so i don't make it seem something for high schools) and possibly do a bit of extra research for any extra bits i might want to add in.

2144320
I know you'll be watching the episode; I'm saying that for a given arc to be worthwhile in its own right as opposed to being just a novelization of an episode with tweaks(in which case the reader would be better off just watching the episode), the show itself can't be your primary source of research... and even if the intent is to be a retread, lots of information from the show will be out of date on account of the 20 year gap - science marches on, and all that. You need to know a lot more about the subject than the show tells you to do anything different from it, and even if sticking to the rails stuff has to be verified through independent sources to stay true to the spirit of the show.

After doing all of that, the amount of additional effort needed to do an arc on a subject not covered by the show instead(such as, say, the immune system of horses) would be comparatively small. Either way, it's no small undertaking, and I applaud the sheer balls you've got for going for it.

2144338 Thanks:pinkiehappy: I'm excited to write this too as soon as my fucking summer classes give me a chance

Of course, I'm going to try to keep this both in the educational/informational sense while trying to keep it a good story. There might be some devices I can't change due to their nature (i.e. white blood cells attacking the bus), but i'll try to do my best to vary the plot devices from the show.

to the immune system

The fillies go into Diamond's body and learn about digestion.:derpytongue2:
