    There's where you go.

If you don't have money, fair enough. I've been there, done that. If you do and don't care, fuck off.

    The zines are for sale.

I'll just bump you folks over to twitter for details, but the short version is they're $5 each, $2 USA shipping, $4 international, and I have two pony ones, A Twilight Trio (Unhorsed, Apex, Dreaming of Dragons) and Tender is the Night.

    It exists. :3

That, my friends, is a zine, or a tiny, handmade book, containing three of my recent stories. Right now I'm working on getting them out to the Patrons, and after that I will be selling them in some way or another.

    Zines! AKA tiny books!

I never managed to get on the pony book bandwagon. I just... self publishing is hard, okay? :P But zines are at least marginally less hard, I only have to wrestle with Libre Office, not with some printer's completely unfamiliar absolutely everything.

    Any Hades fans out there?

I do actually have a pony story coming up! (On Patreon on Monday, here on Fimfic on Wednesday! Just a cute little erotica short, but it's one I particularly liked!)

But I'm also currently in the middle of writing Hades story number four in just the last week, so, uh... On a bit of a roll there!

Honey Pie Changeling Poetry contest results are in! · 8:46am Apr 20th, 2014

One last thing before I'm off for bed tonight!

First, I really am VERY thankful to everyone who sent in a poem. Seriously. Writing poetry is really hard and you guys rock. Thanks so much! Also, it was pretty fricking hard to pick a winner. But I can only use one poem in the story, so it had to be done.

Firstly, the "I liked this but I'm not sure it suits the story" category (the honorable mentions):

By CheesewedgeFTW

Rest well, my little ones
May the world hear your cries
Before it drowns you out
In a whirlwind of lies.
The morning draws ever near
It’s best to prepare
For soon enough, the Mind awakes
And your souls must bear.
Rest well, my young ones
Dream as you please
‘Till the goddess brings out the sun
And it’s our turn to flee.

by BLTmunch

O Changeling
The Changeling
With jagged horn, with buzzing wing
Not quite what most call beauty
Our essence is emotional energy.

O Changelings
My Changelings
They say we are worthless things.
But should we care what people say?
Or should we mind the sayers-neigh?
For even when it seems grey,
there's a new day, every day.

by Spectrumancer (This one I especially like for the headcanon idea about the hive being conscious while dreaming.)

Hush now, quiet now,
it's time to lay your sleepy shells.
Hush now, quiet now
It's time for peaceful dreams.

Drifting off to sleep,
Leave the day behind you.
Drift off to the Link,
let your brethren keep you.

Hush now, little nymphs,
let love let you grow strong and stout.
Lay down, little ones,
the queen will keep you safe.

Footnotes:

Similar to the lyrics of the popular pony lullaby Hush Now, historians will argue endlessly whose version came first, pony or changeling, and which side copied it originally.

The third line of the second verse has many scholars theorizing that dreaming changelings remain conscious within the hivemind, although this would be hard to prove or disprove without finding a changeling and asking it.

And a special honorable mention for the weirdest poem I've ever read:
by RC

Sleep ing dreaming hoping true, waitn here just for you, love is nothing but our food, with them we find hate and pane, for they alwas make our dane. Now we sleep here peacefuly, dream now softly and gleefuly too.

Now, the ones that I could totally have used, but I had to pick just one (the runners up):

by Metaskipper (which also has some delightful headcanon attached.)

To the tune of Silent Night:

Quiet Now

Quiet now, lay down
Rest your wings, rest your pow’rs
Close your eyes and dream of love
Join your friends in under stars above
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Quiet now, lay down
While we watch o’er our town
Have no fear in your rest
Play in dreams to your hearts’ content
None shall disturb your dreaming
None shall disturb your dreaming

Quiet now, lay down
Make no noise, make no sound
Dream together in your hearts
Tomorrow brings a new day to start
Go, and sleep ‘til that new morn
Go and sleep ‘til that morn

There is evidence to suggest that changelings maintain their emotional connection even while sleeping. While most changelings are used to the ambient noise, it can disturb lighter sleepers, especially young children. Actively dreaming with others both commits the changeling to sleep, and distracts him or her from other dreamers' sounds.

by Merne23 (I adore the song this is to the tune of, too.)

(To the tune of "Come Little Children", by Kate Covington [katethegreat19])

Come little changelings, we'll take you today
Into the Hive and the Hollow.
Come little changelings, we've no time to play
here in the dark and the shadow.

Follow sweet changelings, we'll show you the ways
through all the chasms and tunnels.
Fret not, dear changelings, our life is this way
we don't need any beauty or passions.

Hush now, dear changelings, it must be this way
our life is one full of deception.
Rest now, small changelings, for soon you'll away
Into the calm and the quiet.

-Humming from the drone until the nymphs fall asleep-

Come little changelings, we'll show you the ways
all of our spells and enchantments
Come little changelings, we've no time to play
here in the Hive and the Hollow.

by Tezz LaCoil (Did I mention these were hard to choose between? They were!

Come so far we have (5)
From a land most forgo-tten (6)
The dark holes and crags (5)
From whence once we‘ere borne. (6)

Our love-less boundings (5)
Long moon-lit so-journings (6)
Endless surr-oundings (5)
End resting at redlights and doors (8)

Younglings and oldlings (5)
Tired nymphs and siblings (6)
Rest easy for now (5)
It won’t be forever (6)

Someday your travels (5)
That oft’ end with gavels (6)
Will bring us a place (5)
Of love evermo-ore! (5)

Quiet your fears (4)
And end all your tears (5)
Sleep just for now (4)
And dream of a place that is near. (8)

O’ dream of a place that is near…
O’ dream…
O’ drea~ea~eam...

by Night_Shine

Sweet child of mine, hush thy cries
with my whispered lullaby.
Someday all the storms of life
will finally pass us by.

Someday when the flowers bloom,
someday coming very soon,
Someday when thy little heart
will have our love consumed,

the sweet ones will smile on us,
sunrays cast fire o'er us,
moonlight sweep down on our
broken home.

A wave of thick healing will
cleanse us of feeling
that hunger we know all too well.

So hush now, my child,
your cries aren't unheard.
Soon we'll be free, flying
up with the birds.

And last, but kind of by definition not least, the winner!

by The Ponytrician

Hush now, sweet hatchlings,
As you lay down to sleep
And I'll sing you a tale
Of lies and deceit.

Before the Sun's dawning
We'll go forth from the nest
And sneak into towns
To do what we do best.

A little bite to the neck
To ensure they don't wake;
With a flash of green fire
Their appearance we'll take.

We go about their business
In our perfect disguise;
Whilst stealing their love
As we tell them sweet lies.

And when the moon rises
We'll all return to the Hive
To feast on our bounty,
Grow stronger, and thrive.

So, hush now, sweet hatchlings,
As you lay down to sleep;
And heed well this tale
Of lies and deceit.

Thanks again to all of you! Also, to The Ponytrician, I may contact you to discuss a few possible tweaks to it before actually putting it into Honey Pie III, I had a thought about meter, which is the one bit of it that's on the weak side. The rhyme is awesome and the mood is just what I had in mind, creepy without being outright malevolent... anyway, that's for later, for now, thanks to everyone who entered!

Oh, those are neat :pinkiehappy:

I suddenly can't resist linking to this magnificent creation of Westphalian_Musketeer :moustache:

Nice! All of these.

*hangs his honorable mention on the wall*

:derpyderp1:
:derpyderp2:
I'm shocked. :rainbowderp: And honoured! :yay:

By all means, tweak away! This was a 15 minute coffee-break effort, so it could definitely do with some polishing (which is why I'm surprised amazed flabbergasted that it won).

2027427 You shouldn't be shocked! That's a good poem right there.

2027363 That thing was awesome. But got the song stuck in my head all day.

2027387 Thanks for entering.

2027427 Hee. It was pretty close, more than half the poems were something I totally could have used. :pinkiehappy: Yours was definitely good.

2028884
You say that as if it's a bad thing :trollestia:

Well played by all, especially to our winner, Ponytrician.

I shall take my honorable mention and frame it.
