Collateral Damage is now complete. · 9:03pm Apr 12th, 2014
I have at last published the sixth and final chapter of Collateral Damage. It's the most painfully-tragic story I've ever written in my entire life about anything. One thing that this story has taught me is that tragedy all about point of view and focus -- a million deaths may be a statistic, but the deaths of two persons I characterized and then showed the effects of their deaths upon their loved ones -- that's heart-wrenching. As in wrenching my heart -- I was on the verge of tears through most of the writing of Chapters 4-6.
Oh, crap, have I really committed myself to writing about a whole freaking war in Poul Andersonesque style? Oh, damn, I'm going to have nightmares now. Teaches me not to use the "Order 66" theme and Sabaton's historical World War II Euro-metal to as writing background music.
Hope you readers like it.

Indeed, and Coat of Arms. Among others. "Rise of Evil" is a good song for contemplating Queen Chrysalis, and the general heroic despair that characterizes much of the music (as in, "we may be doomed but we're fighting to the bitter end, and you won't win in the end either") works well for Ceymi.

Ceymi has Noble Demon Tragic Heroine (or Anti-Villain, or whatever you call it) written all over her carapace.
