Just a quick update. I'm 4k or so into my next story. Sadly, it's not Twilight's Lust. I had one of those headaches with words again and it's basically burning a hole through my brain to get out. Too bad I have no time for words. Tentatively titled Who We Are, it's going to be short, 10-15k (where have I heard that before?) and a one shot. I don't worry about it ballooning like List did, the concept falls apart if it goes on too long. I'm a bit worried I'm not a good enough storyteller to pull this off and may have to resort to side stories/alt endings to get the point across. We'll see!
In other news, Twilight's List is off the Top Ten rated (it has been for a while now) what with the 23 downvotes. But it's totally #8 on top favorites right now! Which is pretty f*cking amazing.
Oh! Right. Twins. June 1st. So like, if I disappear, that's why.

I'm going to try something new for me, and share some lesser exposed fics that I really enjoyed on a weeky-ish basis. Not all these are perfectly written, but I enjoyed each one of them.
The Light in the Darkness is adorable. It's basically hugs put into pony form. While it may be a counter-argument to Cupcakes, it stands on it's own as one of the more huggable stories I've read.
Pretty in Pink If you read The Things we Leave Behind and wanted more, read this. IMO, it's mis-tagged as [tragedy] instead of [sad], but that's the author's call. I won't spoil anything, but this was one of the first sad-fics I read that seemed to be more counter-sad than tear jerking. I don't much care for fics that try to wring tears from me by having bad things happen to ponies. Anyway, if you haven't, read both. Think of them as Amazing Grace in text form.
Ode to Friendship Yeah, pimping out Cloudy seems silly, but this fic needs to be read by more people. It's not shipping as so many seem to think. Pinkie Pie and Octavia friendshipping? Why are you still reading this? The link is back that way.
Wingmares is another criminally underrated fic. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash backstory that isn't based on abuse, torment, or any of that decidedly non-FiM stuff? Gimme. CC also has an amazing command of English that routinely leaves me floored.
Hmmm, I'll have to give those stories a shot when I finally get out from being behind in my own writing...

It most certainly is underrated. As far as background fics go, it's one fo the few that don't feel out of place next to FiM.

Light in the darkness was cute, but pretty... bland towards the end. The beginning was good but somewhere after the middle it decided that making points was more important than telling a story.
Pretty in Pink... Just another fic that feels forced, trying to reach into your chest and tug those heartstrings while beating you over the head with a bait and switch "message".
Ode to Friendship I haven't checked out. I might give that a read.
Wingmares, I couldn't agree more. The only reason it's not super popular IMO, being one of, if not THE best Cutie Mark Chronicles time frame fics is that it was released as a single Doc on EqD 4 months before posted on FimFic.

To clarify, I already have 2k or so done, but then it grew a plot (literature kind). So I've tabled it in favor of Who We Are. Also, WWA is kinda mind virusing me.

Read Wingmares, fantastic fic, very complimentary backstory to Dash' and Fluttershys friendship. (Re: it's my headcanon).
Havent't read the others but I sure will add them to my list. Coming highly reccomended from someone you respect demands they move to the top of said list too.
Also congrats on the twins, 3 boys all of a similar age range? Man, have fun with that is all I can say! Does your wife approve of your converting your kids to Bronydom btw?
