A call for help (also, new side-story) · 4:43am Mar 31st, 2014
First, the “good news.” I submitted a new side-story. It’s nothing special, just a place to put little one-shot scenes I come up with that wouldn’t have a home otherwise. They’re technically non-canon, but hopefully you guys like them. There’s only two right now, but there should be more in the future, after I heal. (The two chapters in there were written a long time ago.) Hopefully it’ll help tide you guys over a little during the healing period.
Now, the bad news.
I really, really hate to ask this of you guys, but I could really use some help with things. Financially, I mean. I have a new chair now, but I still need to get the keyboard and some braces for my hands. I’ve gotten a few offers for support, so if any of you can and want to help, here’s how. You can send money via Paypal to cvbrony@gmail.com . Once I have the equipment I need, I can take that break for a couple of weeks to heal, then HOPEFULLY dive back in. I can’t guarantee anything right now, sadly, as while I’m here in Canada I don’t have access to regular medical care. This is all self-care right now. And I’m still paying $300/month for US insurance just in case something huge happens. :P
I’m researching other sites like http://www.patreon.com as well. If any of you have experience with them, post in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Again, it’s depressing even having to ask this, but I definitely need help. It’s even more depressing to say I’m going to be gone for a couple weeks afterwards. But I am going to need a healing period. I’ll still be checking things here on my phone, though, as it’s the typing at the computer that needs to have a break.
Also, I have an iPhone 4 for sale. US shipping only, and it’s locked to Verizon (but could LIKELY be unlocked) and running iOS 7. It’s in generally excellent condition and has been reset to factory. Asking price is $150 OBO. I’m putting this up on Craigslist soon but you guys get first crack. Hit me up via PM if you’re interested. First come first serve if you meet or beat the asking price.
I know I’m behind on responding to PMs. I’ve had a lot lately; give me time. I can’t type too much right now. The pain’s been bad lately.
So, yeah, that’s about it for this blog post. Any help you guys can offer, I greatly appreciate it. Thank you all!
And another thank you to all my fans! I’m sorry the story is taking so long. Believe me, it’s frustrating for me too.

Any keyboard is cheaper than this one:

Can't you just buy one directly from Microsoft, though?
Well, I get paid the 6th. I should be able to send you a little something. We'll see.
1968425 As mentioned in earlier blogs/chapters, I'm looking for a particular ergonomic model. It has the best chance of being good for my hands, but is also kinda expensive.
Urgh, I would love to help (and I normally would), but I'm not in a position to do so right now. All I can say is heal, and don't let any feelings of obligation toward your followers (the casual readers or the religious cult) degrade or impede your health.
Sadly, I can't help... right now.. My tax return should be in within the next couple of weeks, and then I can help.
I'll send you a million bits*

And five dollars too.
My own experiences trying to get Flattr going have been... well... lacklustre at best. That is to say, I don't know any other authors who have gone up for it, which makes the whole thing awkward. I got a handful of flattrs myself, but only that, and one person has a subscription that automatically flattrs every month, which makes me feel guilty when I haven't released anything in several
So... yeah. I'm probably going to take it out of my last few author's notes some time soon, and can't really recommend it. It's really one of those things that needs popularity and momentum to make sense, and the 10% fee was on the high side anyway.
Patreon, on the other hand, is something I've had my eye on. It's certainly much better for incentivising authors to actually write and release chapters. I probably won't do it myself, since the only reason I allowed myself to do Flattr was to try and promote it, but I'd be really interested to see how it goes.
Well, Cv, I will send some help this next Tuesday. As in, unfortunately, not tomorrow but the next Tuesday.
Man thing is for you to rest. I'll see if I can get a couple of dollars together. I love your work and would love to support more of it!
....also stop typing and let your bloody body rest/heal! Healing is the important thing! I can wait, so please rest up!
1978005 Based on my research, that's only if you're immigrating on an INLAND application. (In other words, you're staying in Canada the entire time during the application process. In other words, got into Canada and you're applying to stay there.) I'm applying OUTLAND (legally applying from another country, allowing me to come and go as I please AND allowing me to appeal a rejection).
I have no SIN number, cannot get one, and I cannot legally work (or study at a university) in Canada.
Believe me, if I could get into Canada's health system, I'd do it in a heartbeat. That's $300 a MONTH in savings.

Oh, and because I'm applying outland, I'm CURRENTLY not liable for any Canadian taxes other than sales tax on stuff I buy, so... :applejack unsure: (Not that I have work income to tax anyway.)
