I ask, because I was waiting on feedback on some changes to chapter 3 and realized rather out of the blue that I'd been lazy in my research on a rather important bit of back-story for one of the future characters.
Censored for those squirmy about medical stuff or those that would rather be surprised:
One of the characters has been intended to have been born deaf-blind, and that was the reason she started upgrading. The original version was just 'born that way' and had Hollywood style white eyes... but luckily I realized myself how incredibly lazy writing that was in time to fix it.
Am I correct in that Usher syndrome type 1 would be a good fit? If so, born deaf, lost her eyesight in early childhood and had extremely poor balance until she quite literally replaced her ears.
Does that pass mustard? It won't turn up for quite a few chapters, but I'd like to make sure it's based on correct information when it does. Quite a few of her traits are meant to be a reaction to that illness and how she conquered it, so I would really like a bit of informed feedback on this.
