I Should Probably Acknowledge This · 9:54pm Jan 23rd, 2014
So, 200 followers. That's something, eh?
I know a lot of people make these really big, gushing blog post about an achievement like this, but I'm finding it hard. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate each and every favorite, follower, upvote or comment I get. But that is just it, all these things are, are numbers. I think one of the reason I've been more partial to comments is because they show you what people think. What they like, what they don't, and can provide subtle clues on what to change.
For example, I released a sequel to 'A Little Push' the other day. Much as should have been expected, it had a bit of an underwhelming reaction. I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, because I was a little bit, but really it was to be expected. The prior story had custom characters, sure, but it was a Rainbow Dash story. It had a place for the readers to latch on to if they weren't familiar with the OCs. This one, not so much.
And I imagine that trend will continue as I keep writing for this universe. The more specialized the stories get, the smaller the audience I will have because of it. Should I swap back to writing some more 'Parent/Kid' stories until I build a stronger base, or should I continue with more of the kid centric stories like I originally planned? I'm not sure either is the 'right' answer, but they are both paths to consider.
If you are reading this, then I wrote something you enjoyed. Rest assured that I won't squander that faith. There is work to be done, and I've still got so many more stories to tell. I'm not sure how we'll get there, but we haven't seen the end of these kids quite yet.

You should be like me and thank every single one of your followers individually in one massive post. I did that for 100 followers. It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done.
Dude, just write what you want. If your followers are true fans of your work, they're stick by your side. If they joined simply because of one or two stories and decide to unfollow you later on, then leave them be.You're the writer, you're the one in charge, you're the one who gets to decide when and what your fans get to read. And if we're true fans, we'll eat that shit up. So it doesnt matter which path you decide to take, because your fans have your back.
Well, typically for any 'verse fic people go towards a main story that started the entire 'verse to get affiliated with it. So far there isn't one for this 'verse, so the smaller stories you provide are less likely to hit a wider audience the more specific they get, since the reading audience are unused to the characters. Though that can easily be fixed if more stories of said characters get written, making the 'verse have more notoriety, or a group is made for said 'verse.
How you are doing it is fine. Maybe put a glossary of characters up though, it could aleviate peoples confusion
I rather like OC stories. They show how creative people can be in making interesting stories and using their own imagination.
More parent/kid stories might be a good thing if you are trying to grow interest in the 'verse.
You might also want a group with an appropriately clever name to serve as a central point for it. I just found this one, but the name is a tad unwieldy. It could also use some graphics, which shouldn't be hard to come by given the primary source material.
