Someone once said I was passive aggressive. I disagree. I am far too impatient for that. I prefer just being normal aggressive. Don't worry about 'maybe' upsetting me, you will know.

    Coincidence

Hey, you guys remember "Wingover"? Remember the moral, that having raw talent doesn't make you better than people who have to work hard to achieve what you can do easily?

Recently, a new 'Friends Foreever" comic was released, and...

    Ultra 'FML' Rant

As if the title wasn't warning enough, huge, angry rant below.

Well, maybe not angry. I don't think anger has truly formed yet, I'm still mostly in the depression/stunned phase.

Ultra 'FML' Rant · 11:34pm Feb 17th, 2016

As if the title wasn't warning enough, huge, angry rant below.

Well, maybe not angry. I don't think anger has truly formed yet, I'm still mostly in the depression/stunned phase.

OK, so about ten days ago, I got a job offer from a small company near Albany. About two dozen employees, an R&D company that was hiring someone with my actual degree (Chemical Engineering). Finally, my foot in the door of the industry to get that all important first job! Yesterday, I moved from my apartment in Buffalo to a nice apartment in the Albany area. I bought some furniture I needed, set up my net, and was getting all ready to start my job next week.

Tonight, I got a phone call that their investors pulled back due to market fluctuations, and that they were being forced to do massive cutbacks in hiring. Of course, I was the first on the chopping block (though, I suspect, not the last). Needless to say, this kind of upset me, since I'd just signed a one year lease on my place.

So, instead of going out with my family (who came up to help me set up my new place) tomorrow, I'm going to be on the phone all day trying to hash out the details and get them to pay me back for this move. Since I have a written job offer from them, and I moved in good faith of that offer, the law should account for them to reimburse me for pulling the rug out from under me. Either way, it's going to be a royal pain in the ass, something tells me.

Oh yeah, and now it's back to job hunting, and maybe having to move in back home again. After living on my own (with the exception of a 6 month stint after my military time) for 8 years, that's gonna be a bitter pill to swallow. Welp, back to the grindstone I suppose.

I'm not an active religious man, but I do choose to believe. I choose to see things like this not as punishment or apathy, but as some kind of message I have to interpret. This isn't where I am supposed to be, there is something else for me. It's still up to me to go out, be proactive and find it, but sometimes the bad things in life are merely being pushed in the right direction. That is what I choose to believe anyway. Probably sounds like a crock to most people.

Just because flaming letters aren't being carved in stone doesn't mean that messages aren't being sent. Sometimes you just need to accept the messages for what they are. Some call it chance or dumb luck, but I don't.

Let's see where this new path leads.

Damn. That's some harsh luck. Your outlook on the situation is good, though, and it gives plenty of reason to stay positive. After all, if you're not supposed to be there, it implies that there's a place you're meant to be. And it's always possible that this experience could have had some as-yet unseen benefit.

I just hope you can get reimbursed in short order.

3761466 Thank God I keep receipts for my rent and such. Normally, the legal practice of suing for damages like this is iffy, because it is hard to quantify the damages. As I don't have many expenses, it's actually easy for me. The penalty for closing my last lease early, the first month's/security on this place, the net hook up and such at this new place, etc.

Basic stuff, but all documented and very hard to argue with.

Dunno I could have kept such a positive outlook if it were me in your shoes as I don't believe in anything, for various reasons.
Best of luck to you.

Sorry for your troubles, but it's nice to have a positive outlook. After all...

Ouch. Good on you for keeping a positive attitude. The situation is what you make of it, so keeping hammering on those problems until they turn into opportunities. Good luck!

Shit man that's some pretty bad luck. I wish you the best and like you said, maybe this setback will lead you somewhere else.
