Dark Spectrum as a series · 7:03pm Jan 17th, 2014
Okay, I suppose I should say something about this already. To those of you who might be wondering: yes, I do intend to write a sequel for Dark Spectrum: Public Enemy. I've already begun putting together a rough outline, but it will be a while before I'll have anything to release. Like the last one, it'll be released over a period of days once the whole thing is finished. The last one took a few months to put together, so the sequel likely will as well.
In the meantime, I'm curious to know what people might like to see in a sequel. I can't promise to incorporate any ideas, since there are certain directions I'd like to go in, but I want to write something that people will enjoy. Any thoughts, ideas, or such? Even just elements you liked or disliked about the original would be helpful.
[Comments below contain spoilers for the original story]
I think that you should have Rainbow dealing with the critical backlash of being Dark Spectrum. The casual snide remark about her time as a villain and have her suffer horrible flashbacks of her time as one. This would be the best part as when a new villain comes to the field ponies will finally see that Rainbow is not the crazy mare from the last story.
In my opinion. It should still be focused on Dash. The reason that I liked the story was becasue of how Dash's character developed and we could see exactly what she was doing and why, and how it made her feel. If you want to focus a tinny bit more on the whole changeling thing, I would recommend making Dash really paranoid. It would be interesting to see how she reacts to everypony wondering if who she's talking to is a changeling or not. After all, she feels sorry for those who she hurt, but she's also likely ton be scared that Changelings are going to try and come back somehow.
This could also work if you want to bring back Dark Spectrum as she becomes evil, or psychotic, because of her hate towards Changelings. In the end though, I want it to still be centered around Rainbow Dash and her perspective to everything.
AS I mentioned in the comments I was expecting it to be a LOT darker but other than that the story was good. I think that the sequel should involve something tipping Rainbow over the edge and making her go even more batshit crazy than before then she kills a bunch of ponies and hopefully a major character (IE: Shining Armor, Spitfire, Lightning Dust) then everypony hates her and she has to be killed to avoid causing any more problems! The end! (PLEASE write this)
Hm... 33-week old blog. Let's see...
In this sequel, assuming it's still even to be done, I personally would like to see, while Rainbow Dash does still suffer some backlash for her villainous behavior, characters like Lyra and so forth getting called out on their own bullshit, and Spitfire growing the fuck up because she's in a military branch!

I really want to get the sequel out, but I barely have anything done on it. It's been even harder for me to write than the first. The backlash will continue (those who didn't think the first earned its Tragedy tag will see just how bad things are gonna get for Rainbow), but there will be nicer spots, as well. After all, some of those ponies got replaced by changelings (like Lyra, actually), and Dash accidentally saved them. As for Spitfire... I've been going back and forth as to whether or not to make her a villain. A lot of people want it, but I dunno if it really fits her character.
2444461 I don't think it fits her at all. She's a two-faced bitch so far in canon, but not villain material.

Exactly. She's a bitch, but like you said, she's a professional. Also, she'd probably be a bit too similar to the Batman villain Two-Face.
