Similar to Number One, my other finished story No Need For Words has hit 300 favorites.
First, a little personal news. Finals are done, so I hope to be writing a bit more. I'm involved with a couple writing contests, so you'll be seeing a couple off-the-wall stories.
Now, as I asked where you came from in the "300 Favorites for Number One" blog post (still open), I'd like to do something for this. And that is a contest!
Whether you know it or not, I actually name the characters in my stories, present and upcoming, despite them referred to as 'you'. You'll find out their names in the future. However, there is one that I do not have a name for, and that is the deaf colt from No Need For Words. That is where you guys come in.
Have an idea for a name? Post it! Winner will get the privilege of having their entry be the official name for the pony along with a special request, be it a short story, a cameo of their choice in a chapter, or something else within reason.

Sort of an ironic name. He can't HEAR sounds but he can FEEL them.
Hm...The name Synchronize or just Sync. No need for sound, he uses the feels and pressures around him to get a feel for what's happening.
Reason or Resonate. Ress/Rez/Res for short?

A simple idea: Sound. I came up with this when I thought really hard about what makes this stallion, and then it came to me. Sound. He can't hear it, but it is what makes him, what drives him. For sound is vibration, and, as pointed out in the story, what else does he live for?
Or maybe Vibrato. I play in an ensemble, and I constantly hear that word come up in the saxophone section (although it can be used for any instrument), and it means to vibrate the instrument in a way that causes the note to pulse, which sounds really good. I thought, since one can, up close, feel that pulsing, that Vibrato might also be a good name.
Yay! One of my suggestions is up there!
I'm with rockah12 in seconding Pulse. First, because it stands well on its own (sounds unique). Second, it sounds related to the subject matter, without being unduly so. Of course a deaf colt isnt going to have a sound related name. But Pulse has much deeper meaning than that.

I think the reason that there are a lot of sound related names is because that's really all we know about him. He can't hear it, yet finds a way to enjoy it. There are quite a few names up there I'm really liking and rolling around on my tongue, but I do kind of want to see a couple more suggested names that approach it from a different way.

But if I know the colt's special talent, I know I would be able to come up with a name...
Unless his talent is to be able to feel the music.
I like the name Synchronize [Sync].
Why not Waveform? Maybe Reverb? I'm out of ideas.

Assume that special talent and cutie mark is anything you can think of that matches something in the story. It could be how he can feel sounds, the fact that he's deaf, how he like's to party, or something else.
