It actually feels lately like I've been crawling out of a pit? So maybe there's a light ahead? But it's also blocked by Balatro lol somepony save me D:

The only other thing relevant to this blog is that I've had notes for a vs. post sitting in my notes document for probably the entire month now, what is wrong with me? D:

Fic recs, April 22nd: Jordan179 edition

Once again, though a good bit late, I bring it upon myself to memorialize an author via reviews of their stories. Though this time, it's different, as I had no connection to Jordan179 and only learned of his passing (three years ago this month, coincidentally), from this post

Another post about video games and Youtube and stuff

If I'm going to waste time watching shit on Youtube, the least I can do is tell people about it. :P

Ceave is a crazy Austrian with a love of video games and a head for philosophizing about them. Plus he really, really hates coins, no matter how tasty they may look.

Do you like video games? How about philosophy?

I like one of those things for sure, but no one combines the two better than a Youtuber named InfernalRamblings, a former professional game developer who now creates hour and a half long video essays about the meanings of video games and how they relate to the world today. Here's a few highlights, since this is now basically my only

State of the Present: April 2012 · 10:12pm Apr 2nd, 2012

I'm not a terribly prolific author, so in the name of actually having content on this site, I think I'll start doing this on a monthly basis unless people bitch about it.

Current Projects Active: 25

That number? Pretty high. D: Not happy about that.

Since I got my first fic, Right Before Your Eye, published on EQD in June of 2011, I haven't gone a single month without putting out at least one fic, and that's with pre-reading taking up a lot of time. March 2012 is the first month where I can't say I did anything. :/ I just have to live with that.

Not to say I didn't get things done, even being sick and having lots of fics to edit for others. I did at least get The Ueton Game out for the /fic/ writeoff. I put my "crazy brony who lives in a cardboard box" fic up on Ponychan and got so much good feedback I need to give it a major once-over. My "clopfic" (note the quote marks) got an actual title. Heck, just last night, I restarted my Beast Wars crossover. Things are happening, just not fast and not focused. Here's my major projects and where they stand:

Epic Unicorn History: The Beards of Harmony: #1 from my ideas poll last month. I've gotten it going, but it will be my first long-form fic and I'm freaking out just a little because of it. The idea has really evolved since I first conceived of it, though; hopefully it'll turn out worth of that #1 interest.

No Jobs Tonight: Like I said, I got lots of good feedback and a new way to approach this. I even learned a new technique for dealing with major edits in fics like this. It'll get out eventually.

The Elements of Awesomery: I'm putting out two sequels at once. The first deals with the framing narrative: Pinkie and Dash's relationship and a gag I conceived even before I wrote EoA. The second is the continuation of the Awesomery storyline. Unfortunately, the latter is drafted already and it's the former that's causing me problems. D: I don't want to put them out separately for a number of reasons, but ugh.

But Who Will Love the Moon: The rewrite of "Doing the Nasty". Stalled, stalled, stalled as hell. I had another breakthrough with it, I thought, but that's not helping to push it forward at all. :(

The Clock Is Ticking: aka "Pinkie wants babies". Put some work in on it last month. It's at a good point, I just need to sit down and finish it.

In Canore Veritas: The aforementioned "clopfic" with quotation marks. It started out as a one-off joke, like Doing the Nasty, and just like that fic has evolved into something more, namely Octavia dealing with her estranged mother. I'm playing around with artistry and pretension and no one's going to like it, lol.

My Little Beast Wars: Planning to write the first "episode" arc (3-5 parts), post it, then leave the rest for whenever I feel like it. I just finished watching the series recently, so I've got plenty of fuel at least!

Dance 'Til We're High sequel (name currently withheld): So, I just found a song to use for this. It seriously hit me in the face yesterday and I'm so happy. My plan is to get two or three of the above out before I tackle this, however. It's very ambitious and I hope I can pull off what I'm trying to do. But yeah, it's officially going to happen now.

So there you have it, what I'm trying to work on. My biggest obstacle (other than video games) is an inability to avoid writing contests, so I may do things for those as well. Heck, four out of those 25 active projects are entirely because of writing contests. It's a weakness, what can I say. D:

Till next time!

Oh! Good! Money is useful for all sorts of things. Unfortunately, having a job also cuts into writing time, and then the juggling act begins.

Also hellooo. :3c
