A Fic Recommendation Blog #2 · 8:02pm February 25th
I'm legit calling this #2, even though there's no #1. Like I said in my blog about Finding A Way Elsewhere, I wanted to try something new: recommending people’s fics. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community that I write in, and I’m sticking by my word.
So here I am now, compiling this blog for you all to see. Not sure how often I will do these, but writing this one out was fun to do. Felt like I was giving each author a mini-review here, and I think I’ll keep this format as I go. Hope you all enjoy!
With that being said, here we go!
The Best for the Best by Missytheangle
This fic was surprising for a few reasons. Missy (the author) decided to write PinkieDash at 1AM and on short notice, as she was trying to enter for a contest I was judging back then. Now, when I had scored this one, it was towards my top 5. Why? Simply put: it’s extremely creative in how it portrays the situation that unfolds in the fic, and how the characters interact with that situation. I would like to talk about that situation more but to be honest, I don’t want to spoil the fic. Just know that Missy wrote these characters so well that they really pop off the page. Sadly she no longer writes for the fandom, but I can’t help but still recommend this despite that. Really underrated fic that deserves a lot more love!
Hot Dragon Inaction by SilverNotes
Do you like Princess Ember? Do you like Spike? Do you like Ember losing her cool over Spike to the point of burning an entire chair all because she has feelings? Well, this is the story for you! Creatively written with even some characters I didn’t expect to be in the fic. Ember being the sole narrator was a great decision, as we get to see her inner turmoil fester and burn as the story continues, and the cast of characters help in making Ember really think about herself and who she truly is. This is a page turner that will leave you wanting more by the end of it!
You’re Dating WHO? By ShowShine
I don’t know how else to put this one other than… wow. If you need a fic that will not let off the gas when it comes to comedy, this fic will do this to you. Twilight Velvet’s delivery in this fic along with Twilight Sparkle’s overall demeanor throughout clash so well, and all Starswirl wanted to do was support his new soon-to-be-wife and his soon-to-be-step-daughter. This is an example of how you can write a crackship confidently. Highly recommend this one!
With that being said, I’m going to end the blog here. Hope you all enjoy these ones, and hope you’re not too shocked that none of them involve a human in Equestria (or on Earth for that matter).
