So, where's Pink Scorch #2? · 12:11am February 20th
Hey there! February is almost over, and I said before that I will be releasing the new Pink Scorch by the end of the month. This will be a multi-chapter story with a fully developed plot and new characters. So, what's the progress on it?
Around 7,000 words.
I wasn't as active on it as I was hoping to be, but slowly been working up the courage to keep going with it. I'm more confident now than ever now that I have a basis for the story. Both the Prologue and Chapter 1 have been written. Chapter two is in progress, along with the cover art. One of the artists I requested a commission from finally reached out to me the other day. We just started conceptualizing it, although I hope progress will be quick because I hope to have the story released by early March.
There's not a lot to cover in this blog aside from letting the people who are interested know that it will be releasing very soon. So, what is to be expected of this new sequel?
I guess I should start by explaining why I wrote the first story. The original fic exists as a proof of concept. I wrote it to set the groundings for the universe and to introduce the character. What should be expected of the storyline. What you can expect out of the numerous side characters. I put down a basis for Winter Heat's character, although I didn't explore her in-depth. I just did everything I needed to to lay the foundation.
Pink Scorch #1 received a bit of criticism. The response was positive, for the most part, however there was some criticism. Criticism I felt was very justified. The story was all action, and because of that it was hard to stay tuned-in most of the time. That was the main thing people pointed out, and I don't blame anyone if they stopped reading because it couldn't keep their attention.
That's why Pink Scorch #2 exists. Where #1 was meant to lay the foundation of the expected universe, #2 is meant to lay the foundation of the expected storyline. Characters are given more depth, and action scenes are much shorter. That doesn't mean they're fewer in number, however. Most people really seemed to like the action in #1 despite the subpar flow, so I don't think it'd be a good idea to take the focus away from them.
Basically, I'm trying to improve upon the action by making it shorter and more creative to keep the reader engaged. If I had to reference a fic, I guess Project Horizons is a good example. I really like the way the actions plays out in that story, and I modelled some of my own writing after it.
Moving away from the action, I want to talk about the characters. People really took a liking to Juice Mare in #1, so much so that she carried the story for most people. Although I plan on continuing her character arc, I'm sorry to say that she won't be a focus in this story. That's not to say she wont' be appearing, but the most attention she will receive is a possible cameo. However, there are some new villains I want to share.
This is Tyranny! She appeared on the bonus chapter I released incognito-style about a month back. She has a British accent and performs black magic with her demon guitar.
Meet Stellar Eclipse (aka Stellar Wind, aka Stella)! She's a character that belongs to NorristhePony, who is a good bean and you should go read his stuff. He let me borrow her for the fic since I'm building a very OC-heavy universe. She's a 500-year-old vampire thestral with a snarky attitude.
Both of these characters will appear in the same story and have their own character arcs. Same goes for Winter. ALSO ALSO ALSOoooooo the Power Ponies will play a prominent role.
I really don't have much to say tbh. Like I said, this blog just exists to let people know that I'm still following through with my plans. Still on track for 2024!
