"Please give me some story recommendations!" · 5:43pm January 3rd

I think it's 95% hilarious when someone in a fimfiction.net group or a discord or other social media asks for story recommendations and they say nothing or almost nothing about what kinds of stories they even like, or what they think makes a story good or bad.

The other 5% is people who don't (yet?) know how to do story search (it's at the top of the fimfiction.net main page) with tags and keywords or whatever, and sort the results by criteria like 'rating' or 'likes' I guess. They just need to be told how.

I'm not saying that 'rating' or 'likes' get you the BEST stories, necessarily.

But at least, if you aren't willing or able to say much about what you think distinguishes a 'good' story or a 'great' story from a mediocrity or a piece of garbage, finding stories that people 'liked,' or stories that some people 'liked' and very few or no one 'disliked,' will give you the generic answers that a generic question probably deserves.

But seriously, maybe ~some~ many of these people are just desperate for conversation, idk?

At the very least, it vaguely makes sense if the group is for a specific interest with the obvious implication that they want something that fits said interest.

i think it's cool when they do that actually
