A realization of plot or "I really should outline these damn things" · 3:44pm Oct 23rd, 2023

I am currently reading the book: Save the Cat! The Last Book on Novel Writing You'll Ever Need. This book goes over helpful tips for outlining and plotting your story, and I realize I have been doing a bad job at just that. Stories like A Changeling Named Mute and King of Cosea do have plotted-out endings and beginnings, but their middles only have a few clearly written down details. The flashbacks to Mute's past and the Quirans history are in fact plotted out, but the main story itself has no such clear structure. The Manehattan Arc was planned in advance, but now I find myself at basically the middle point of A Changeling Named Mute and I can't see a clear path toward the ending I want.

My lack of skill in outlining has created this problem and I plan on rectifying it. I will sit down and hammer out a clear outline for ACNM so that each chapter and scene has a purpose. However, this does mean I will focus on the outline before I focus on new chapters. So the Mute story will be on hiatus for a while.

Once I have figured out all the pieces I will start writing chapters again. I might even rewrite or edit some of the old chapters. If I do I will tell you in advance or in the notes at the end of the chapters.

I hope you'll have a nice day and that you too read: Save the Cat! The Last Book on Novel Writing You'll Ever Need. This book will absolutely help you hammer out the details of your story.

well shit, sucks that it's going on hiatus again but i understand, hope it goes well

Take the time you need. It's better for it to turn out awesome the first time then to write it and try to rewrite it later.
