The Year Is Halfway Over! · 2:52am Jul 26th, 2023

It's amazing how time flies. 2023 is halfway over.

Soon it will be 2024 – The Year of the Dragon.

And I'm guessing every one of us dragon fans are all getting stoked for the upcoming New Year on the Chinese/Vietnamese Lunar Calendar (February 10). An event that happens only once every 12 years. I know I am.

And word on the social media says that the Spyro fandoms are all gearing up for the moments.

Spyro Community Day on September 8.

After that, it's Cynder Community Day on October 10.

January 16, 2024 is Dragon Appreciation Day.

And it all leads up to the big day on February 10!

And who knows? Maybe Spyro will finally get a movie of his own! A movie that's NOT produced by the people who bombed Eragon?

I love the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, and the Super Mario Bros. Movie is number one on my list. But the movie I'm waiting to see for so long is Spyro!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. I should know better to count my chickens before they hatch.

How about everyone else? How do you plan to celebrate with your favorite dragons?

I'll probably celebrate it by reading Spike fanfiction, maybe watch some Xiaolin Showdown or Jackie Chan Adventures

Yeah. Me too.

Plus, once in awhile, when I have time to kill, I'll draw up some new fan arts, together with the current Color Wheel Challenge I'm on.

Hopefully they'll make a Crash Bandicoot movie, too.

Of course! You can't have Crash Bandicoot without Spyro.

They're like Yin and Yang.
Superman to Batman.
Sonic to Mario.

If I’m going to celebrate year of the dragon, I’ll be playing Spyro reignited Trilogy

A Spyro movie? Yeah, that would be entertaining to see. Of course, we would have to wonder if the main villain would be Gnasty Gnorc, Ripto, the Sorceress, Malefor, Kaos or somebody else entirely. I guess that would be dependent on whether or not the movie was based more on the Classic/Reignited Series, the Legend series or what have you.

Obviously, there would probably be numerous Mythology Gags to Spyro's multiple notable continuities.

Sparx and maybe Hunter would very likely be allies and friends to Spyro, but we would have to wonder if any of the other heroes in the Spyro games would be worked into the sequels.

Im looking forward to it. For the occasion I'll write a story dedicated to the dragons.

A Spyro the Dragon movie would be fun. My feelings for the 'Eragon' movie are mutual. Growing up, I 'loved' Christopher Paolini's 'Eragon' book. I loved it so much I collected all his books surrounding the lore of Alagaesia. Then after that ended, I decided to check out his new science fiction books and they proved to be just as entertaining (Albeit 'dark' in some areas). So, you could understand my excitement when I heard they were making an 'Eragon' movie, and I bought my tickets the first chance I could expecting something amazing... but it wasn't amazing.

The movie itself lacked MANY elements from the book, Galbatorix was 'never' supposed to reveal himself till the last book, the monsters just weren't how I imagined them to be, some characters were downgraded, the rest of the cast were okay (I liked the voice for Saphira), and 'Keep Holding On' in the credits... really?! Don't get me wrong. It's a catchy song and it has a strong message... but it felt too 'pop culture' for a movie that I half expected to be a 'Lord of the Rings' epic. To this day, I regret seeing the movie... even regret buying the DVD only because as a fan I felt a sense of entitlement to hold a copy just for memories. But then again, I never owned a copy of the game based off the movie though I played it at my cousin's... still wasn't so great.

If they do decide to expand Spyro's popularity with a film adaptation... I hope it does better than the 'Ratchet & Clank' movie (Though its game adaptation was slightly better) and has better luck than 'Sly Cooper' (Which was canned after the first teaser).
