A JD Review: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) · 3:00am Jun 12th, 2023

The Transformers are back in one of their best installments to date! :moustache: Let's get into the Beasts!

NON-SPOILER REVIEW

Set after the events of Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and the Autobots find themselves facing the intergalactic threat of the legendary, ancient for of Cybertron: Unicron himself! But they're not alone this time. Alongside Optimus Primal and the Maximals, as well as two unlikely human friends, together they will face the new evil from the likes of the Terrorcons.

This movie was awesome lol it really felt like a return to the classic Transformer films before they turned to crap, with a little blend of the first Transformers (2007) feel, Bumblebee vibes, the G1 love, and Beast Wars. Basically, it's a big love letter to the Transformers franchise, and to the fans of almost any era of the franchise.

All the cast did a good job, especially the legendary Peter Culler and, surprisingly, Pete Davidson as Mirage. He and Optimus were clearly the standout Autobots, with Optimus Primal being the standout for the Maximals. Cheetor was pretty cool, but poor Rhinox didn't even get a line in the film :rainbowlaugh: Mirage was easily the highlight of the Autobots alongside Optimus, and Arcee was pretty neat too. Wheeljack was alright, I just wish they kept his original design from Bumblebee. Like, they got it perfectly, but then they just changed him for what reason? :rainbowlaugh: He will always be Pablo to me from now on. Bumblebee was great as always, and the Terrorcons were pretty awesome as well.

The movie did feel a little packed at times, and the first two acts were little fast and wonky, but that third act :raritystarry: What an incredible experience.

Fantastic film all-around! Definitely give it a watch! 8/10! What were your thoughts?

SPOILER REVIEW

(Yes, this legendary theme was in the movie :yay:)

Oh, boy, this movie was nuts! It felt like the perfect blend of all the best parts of the 2007 Transformers film and Bumblebee, but elevating it to the next level and expanding the lore and scope of not just the Transformers franchise... but others as well :pinkiecrazy:

That's right. At the very end of the movie, Noah gets an invitation to join a top-secret organization that have been fighting this alien war for quite some time. At first, I thought he was gonna join Sector 7, but then at the very end it was revealed... G.I. Joe?!? :pinkiegasp: They're actually doing it. Those crazy sons of guns, they're actually doing it. We're actually gonna get a Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover film in the future. And you know what, as absolutely wacky and insane as that sounds... I'm totally here for it lol

I was kinda surprised that Air Razor was killed. She was my fav alongside Primal. Scourge was a great villain! He's up there as one of my favorites of this franchise, with Sentinel Prime remaining the best. But who know! Maybe Unicron will be bumped up to number 1... but we'll see what he's got in store for the future of this new franchise :trixieshiftleft:

Fantastic film! A couple pacing flaws here and there, but it came together in the end! 8/10!

And this movie may have just reignited my love for Transformers. And maybe a continuation to my Transformer x MLP crossovers... :ajsmug:

Oh I saw it too and it was kick ass I especially loved that Bumblebee comeback in the final battle, my only complaint is,,,Where The Fuck is MEGATRON?! Seriously not a cameo or even a mention!

Now I want a sequel Transformers: Rise of the Beasts crossover to The Requiem. I've enjoyed the first three crossovers since about 4 years ago I came to this site.

Now I'm imagining a Maximal that turns into a horse... or even a team of equine Maximals that can combine!

I saw the film yesterday. It was good! Definitely a huge improvement over the Bayverse sequels. Mirage was my favourite Autobot in this film and seeing Prime and Primal fighting together is something I've always wanted to see. I was a little disappointed that Cheetor and most of all Rhinox were underused with barely any spoken dialogue at all and the pacing did feel a bit too fast in some areas. Other than that, I have high hopes for where the next two planned instalments will go from here. And I wowed at that G.I. Joe ending confirming that this is a shared universe and that a crossover film between them is possible.

Yes, please let there be a continuation of the My Little Pony X Transformers crossover! Lockdown is still out there and he may not be a Decepticon, but he is still a threat to Equestria. Maybe we can get Starlight Glimmer, I have high hopes for her to appear here. I would love to see the entire Autobots to return back on Equss. And I wonder how Equestria will handle both Maximals and the Terrorcons!

5732923 I think Megs wanna get a cameo or something, considering there are toys of him for this film :rainbowderp:

5732950 Maybe something along those lines :ajsmug:

5732973 That would be awesome!

5732983 That ending was wild! I’m honestly hoping they go all out for the sequel considering everything they set up! :pinkiecrazy:

I’d like to reiterate my hope for perhaps a rewrite of your Transformers crossovers. Because your writing of then is nothing compared to now.

I also thought it was gonna be sector seven lol

Also another musical Easter Egg is that a litttle snippet of Unicron’s theme from the first animated movie plays in the climax

so does Air Razor ever transform in this movie?

5733139 Perhaps :scootangel:

5733162 that’s so cool! I’m glad we got a more lore accurate Unicron!

5733179 She does not lol

5733271
what a waste...

5733162
I was gonna mention it, seeing that, feeling that theme play in theaters. Goosebumps.

Okay, keep with me a moment but, didn't Scourges mask kinda seem similar to a broken Tarn mask?

5733271
That's pretty much the gist with the Maximals; they prefer staying in their Animal modes, and for obvious reasons. They're Maximals, and they're built to be wild. If they die, they die as animals. Plus they don't need to assume their robot forms just to use limbs.

Still, missed opportunity.

5733271
I would love to see a rewrite; not so much callbacks to other Transformer moments like the Death of Optimus Prime.

5733004
I’d prefer if Unicron got involved. Maybe throw in Bludgeon and the Thirteen Primes, and maybe give the Dinobots the ability to combine into Volcanicus.
