Well, damn. From all the incredible gaming news and entertainment news stockpiling the past few weeks, Legendary went ahead and dropped the first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Let's check it out!
So after GVK, it looks like Hollow Earth entries are opening up all over the world. This could only mean one thing: more monster action 
Kong's got a new robo-arm 
That's something I never knew I needed.
Looks like Kong isn't the last of his species. A younger ape of his kind and so many others led by this new Scar King 
An ancient human civilization in the Hollow Earth?! Sounds like a story I've written 
Glad Jia is back. I actually enjoyed her character in GVK.
Godzilla has undergone a new evolution! And to be honest... I kinda love it lol the fiery red/pink dorsal plates is something new and different, and it looks badass. What do y'all think of our boy's new look?
Our first full look at Scar King! Bro looks like an absolute menace, and he must be if Godzilla and Kong need to team up to beat him. Speaking of which, Godzilla and Kong charging together was everything I needed 
Looks absolutely tight, cannot WAIT to see this flick next year! Especially can't wait to incorporate this film into my crossovers

I wasn’t expecting this trailer today, but I’m not complaining. Godzilla’s new form looks badass! And Kong’s metal gauntlet is dope! And seeing them charging together… Dude!

Personally I don't like Goji's new form but watching him and Kong teaming it's going to be the badass thing ever seen in theaters.

I have mixed feelings of Godzillas new pink look, I just prefer his blue look, but he looks badass as always, now we just have to wait to see what happens loved this and the new Halo season 2 trailer.

Here’s another thing, have you noticed that Godzilla’s body shape changed into something that looks like Mechagodzilla? Slightly longer arms, slimmer build? He also seems faster and more agile too.
It makes me wonder if he evolved this way as a result of his battle with the Mecha in Godzilla vs Kong, so now he’s more prepared to fight something like him.

It makes the most sense, after being thrown around by Mechagodzilla, he would absorb Hollow Earth energy to evolve himself into a form that makes it so that if he ever encountered something similar to Mechagodzilla, he would be the one doing the throwing.

Gotta like how Godzilla pulled what Ghidorah is doing in your fic and is evolving himself.
I kind of like that the new Godzilla look reminds me of Godzilla 2000 and that his spines seem to be glowing permanently or at least more than he did beforehand. Like he is literally bursting in power. I will admit I think I like the past looks for this Godzilla where he had a little more girth and I think the blue coloring of his atomic breath worked a little better.
Anyways we got serious Goji with minus one, goofy wacky goji with this, and a little bit in between with monarch. Godzilla is covering all the bases this year.

I like this theory.
That being said, I think Godzilla’s new form is going to happen the last act of the film for the final battle. Like with Kong, there are scenes that show him without that metal gauntlet on his arm. I think this villain, Scar King, is going to prove to be too much for Godzilla and Kong to handle on their own. Most likely, they will both suffer serious damage, so, like you theorize, Godzilla may go through this evolution to better fair against SK, and the humans will most likely construct the gauntlet for him to use.
