Posting a New Story Be Like... · 9:17pm Mar 30th, 2023

I am anxious in that way only Anxious people get anxious. My parents should be getting back to the States with my niece tonight. That’s not what makes me anxious. What makes me anxious is that I’m supposed to pick them up from the airport… in my dad’s massive truck. I don’t drive big trucks. I drive little cars. Driving big vehicles makes me nervous, because I know it’s big and there are a lot of small cars on the road and I’m not used to it and if I mess up the person likely to be the most hurt isn’t me. Add to that I’ll be driving in an unfamiliar area. And then there’s the matter of having what they need and don’t need; do I have the right food that my three-year-old niece can and will eat, are all the dangerous things stowed and hidden away?

Honestly, it’s all overblown. Despite the long flight my dad is probably going to want to drive the truck out of the airport (he doesn’t trust anyone else to drive), they’re going to be at my place for less than 12 hours, my niece will probably be asleep by the time they land, and I have to get up and go to the office the next morning so I might not even see her awake in the first place.

But y’know, Anxious people gonna be anxious.

On to brighter pastures: We’re now more than halfway through Bulletproof Mirage! It was a fun project and one I am very happy to see getting a positive reception. I’ve got a lot of other projects ongoing, but right now I’m thinking about focusing on a specific one since I’m currently writing the climax. It would be another BPH story, one that I’ve been trying to write ever since I released Sunset at Little Longhorn. This is the fifth iteration, all the others getting abandoned in favor of a fresh rewrite due to disappointment in the ongoing product or fresh ideas making the old content moot. I keep forgetting I need to get the cover art for it, though. Maybe I’ll do that commission next month.

Also, I just found out that if you post a new chapter in less than 24 hours after the previous FIMFiction blocks your story from the feature box. The more you know!

The title. Everything about that title. Even when you know better, you can't help but be anxious about a story's performance. :twilightsheepish:That goes double for driving an unfamiliar vehicle – haven't had that yet, but I do sometimes get the feeling with doing unfamiliar routes without passenger seat company, even if I've well planned it out.

Anyway, have a wonderful time with your parents and niece for the first time. I'm sure you'll make many wonderful memories. :scootangel:

By the way, is your standard for multi-chapter fics to have the whole thing written before publishing and release a new chapter every day? I see the original Bulletproof Heart did that, so I'm guessing so, least the last handful of years. Agreeable tactic, of course.

Ooh, feel that title/pic combo.

Indeed it is, although I'm not sure I always do my releases on a daily basis. No Heroes: Life of Pie is the last story I wrote where I published chapters as I wrote them. One or two of people referred to that as the moment I "grew up" as a writer.

So true. The title and GIF has been me for the past four days with a recent story I commissioned for another user to help me write.
