Not long after Twilight Sparkle and her friends defeated Dark Star and his Elements of Destruction, a reformed Dark Star attempted to destroy that which he had created. Instead, he scattered the four amulets across Equestria for them to be found- and used- again.

Around the same time, Cadence discovers a strange amulet in her jewelry box. At first she's not aware it is any different from any of the other large pendants she owns, but as a warm and helpful voice begins to speak to her on occasion, she learns there is more to the amulet than meets the eye.

Based off a roleplay, this story follows the adventure of Dovetail, a young unicorn mare from Ponyville, Cloudstriker, a military stallion from Fort Colting, Spearmint Sonnet, a pegasus mare from Cloudsdale, and Blazer, an earth pony stallion from Manehatten. After several rather coincidental encounters in Ponyville, they all decide to help Dovetail when a mysterious letter arrives at her house that encourages her to return to Hoofswell- the town where she was born and where her family still lives.

But nothing is quite what it seems in the small town, and is it possible these four friends are walking into a perfectly laid trap? Or will they be able to overcome the obstacles set up before them to emerge victorious?

Whatever happens, they all know that all's well that ends well.

I've been planning this story for over a year now, but writing is slow going. Chapters will be posted as I'm able and there will probably not be a very regular schedule.

“Once upon a time, there was a kingdom that was said to be made completely of crystal- beautiful, shimmering crystals of every shade and hue. And it was also said that this kingdom was ruled by a Princess who was just as beautiful as her kingdom. She was not just beautiful, but she was also caring and just. She ruled her kingdom fairly for many years until one day a Prince from a far away kingdom came and fell in love with the princess.

He courted the princess and tried his best to convince her to marry him, but try as he might, he could not make the Crystal Princess fall in love with him. But the prince would not give up so easily. He began working on a love potion, a powerful one, one that would last for as long as he loved the princess. He spent many, many months perfecting the ingredients- he knew he had only one chance to win the princess and he would not fail.

The prince finally completed the potion on the night before the Crystal Fair. The recipe was short and simple, but very powerful. He decided to give the princess the potion the next night- during the clamor of the Fair, she would never notice.

Immediately, the princess fell in love with the prince and the two were married, but the potion was even more powerful than the prince could have known.

For a time, no pony knew there was anything wrong, but it became apparent that neither the prince nor the princess was quite right anymore. Neither cared for anything except to be with each other, even if it meant the kingdom might fall. The princess's young dragon companion began taking up the every day work of ruling, but it was too little, too late. The kingdom fell into disrepair and eventually just... disappeared.”

It was considered the greatest and most tragic love story of the time, but it was not just a story. No, for the Prince and Princess, it was very real...
