Applejack is known by her friends and family to be a stoic mare who cries on the inside, and faces every trouble in life with her chin held high. But what happens when a mare carries a burden on her own for too long? What happens when a lifetime of hardship begins to crack her foundation at it's seams?

WARNING - This story contains references to self harm and suicide. It also contains references to alcohol, and quick, moderate depictions of PTSD-type symptoms. I know that sometimes seeing these things is too much for even myself, so please don't read if those things will trigger and bad feelings.

Rarity is a sophisticated mare well versed in the topics of fashion, generosity, and of love. Well, in this universe, that last one may not hold true. In fact, she's pretty oblivious. Maybe she's just over-worked, maybe she doesn't read enough fan-fiction. Either way, there's a lot going on in Ponyville that she doesn't seem to notice.

As late evening fades to night, Applejack and Rarity are becoming more inebriated by the minute. Applejack notices that something is bothering Rarity, and pesters her about it until she admits that she's overworked and incredibly stressed. The two continue casual conversation until it's time to depart.

An aging Rainbow Dash finds herself beaten and battered after losing a fight. She knows she won't be around much longer, and her thoughts begin to wander. She thinks of her friends, and ponders what, if anything, comes next.

It's been a couple years since Fluttershy graduated high school. A lot has changed in her life, and a lot of her friends have moved on to greener pastures. Fluttershy feels the need to return an old personal item to a friend before they leave for a big opportunity, so she visits her old treehouse in search of it.

This is a short story I wrote in one night, and I largely consider this a stand-alone one shot. Criticism welcome.
