It Is Recommendsday, My Dudes #60 · 6:36pm May 11th, 2022
It's been a little bit since a new author focus, and I just happen to have two on my list! So that works out nicely.

It's been a little bit since a new author focus, and I just happen to have two on my list! So that works out nicely.
So I'm having a deviation from my planned schedule this week to fix a mistake on my part. Last week I did a focus on changeling stories and I skipped over what is probably my favorite one because I thought I'd already featured it.
I hadn't.
So now I'm correcting that oversight by coming back around. (Fortunately I already had one lined up for the future that fit with it, so that worked out!)
One of the parts of the setting I quite love is the changelings. Conceptually, I find them to be fascinating and full of potential. A literal boogeyman race, packed with flavor. They're outsiders who - because they're pathovores - are required to still participate in and closely interact with a society that understandably hates them. And post-reformation it gets even more fun because you've got all kinds of mixed feelings on both sides. It's prime material to work with.
Last week, the spotlight was on Cozy Glow. And this week (after a suggestion from Nailah) it seemed a ripe time to turn it to another of the trouble-causing foals: Flurry Heart.
And I choose to begin with axxuy's You Get an F in Shipping.
I've mentioned in passing previously that some of my best known stories are about Cozy Glow, and so I keep a fair tab on Cozy stories. I realized recently that I haven't done a Cozy-centric week for this blog yet - and now I figure it's time to change that with two of my absolute favorites.
Some weeks, I have this planned out well in advance and specific choices I want to show off. Other weeks are like this one where I sit down, look at my prepared backlog, and throw it all out because I feel like featuring Scootaloo because damn it I can do that if I feel like it.
And I feel like it.
Seeing as April First is in two days, I figure this is a great time to turn the focus on to the Element of Laughter and serve up a pair of Pinkie Pie fics today. Seems appropriate. Although this set... well, the connecting feature is that Pinkie Pie is not quite Pinkie Pie in them. Or at least for some of them.
And we forge forward into the future!
To begin a new year's worth of recommends, I'm gonna pull out one of the more fun themes I've enjoyed - simulations.
Our first is a play on a classic Star Trek concept: The Kathiawari Mare, by AShadowOfCygnus.
Well now. This marks a full year of this blog series. I'll admit, it's been a fun ride so far. Having the chance to bring a little light on to some deserving stories and authors has been great, as has the excuse to re-read some of my favorites before putting them up. It's been a blast, and thank you all for joining me along the way.
